Corot is one of my favorites. And as for the blue dress in the painting, I'd wear it.

Light blue is actually a very good color for anyone who's going on TV. It forces the cameramen to adjust their tone to a little more tanning and healthy-looking skin color.

I would imagine that is part of the decision.

However, as long as we're talking high fashion, I would prefer that the twins use a different designer for their stuff:

Rose McGowan's. RRRRRRR.

Never ceases to amaze me how many lesbians we have who love the First Lady Fashion Threads.

About the bows. I'm afraid that some of the Oscas de la Renta creations have had those stupid bows on them.

I'm praying that this Inaugural gown, like the first Inauguration gown, DOESN'T HAVE A DANG BOW!

OMG! I had forgotten how ugly that dress was.

Looks like something Omar the Tentmaker might turn out. On an acid trip.

All of that portion of the piece was referring to what her daughters want for their dresses. As others have pointed out, it was not referring to what Laura wants for hers. So, worry about something else...

My 13 yo son thinks Laura is "hot". Of course the twins are "on fire" but he says that "for an old woman she looks good". FWIW, he considers me old and I am 37.

As GretchenM has reminded us, Laura is not 50, or fiftyish; she is 58 years old, as is her husband. This just enhances her rep, as a youngish-looking, beautiful woman of almost 60, rather than to keep low-balling her age. Now, if we didn't know her true age, that would be different...we could wonder or guess all we want. But we do know her true age. Why play around with a known fact?

***Who is the designer that puts those bows on Laura's dresses? Is it Oscar?***

I don't know who the designer was who put the bows on Laura, but I'm convinced that it was done because the First Lady is slightly short waisted, and the bows were meant to bring the eye down a bit from the waistline. It worked if the picture was taken from a distance, but not from close up. However, I've noticed that her designer(s) have introduced new dress styles that make the waist look longer and are quite beautifully done. They may even presage a new style for all of us. Women...that is! LOL

Her suits have all been designed perfectly from the very beginning. I wish I owned any one of them. Sigh!

***That is true, and she didn't have it remade. she just wore it. Made a big deal out of it that she wasn't so "wasteful" as to purchase a new dress, and this one had sentimental memories. That might have been OK, if it weren't so ugly.***

You know, when you think about it, it was a dumb thing for Mrs. Carter to do. If a Repub had done it, the MSM would have been howling that she wasn't supporting the fabric mills and the workers. And remember, John F. Kennedy single-handedly put the hat makers out of work when he went bare headed.

***The last thing I want is a bunch of perverts leering over the first lady. That privilege is for her husband.***

Get your mind out of the gutter. Laura's dress description does not include decolletage. Could it be wishful thinking on your part?

I assume you're not slamming on ME--it's a thread YOU popped onto, too. I just noticed your comment RE: the U.N. and from work on campaigns I know that politicians try to wear light blue when they're gonna be on camera because of that factor, and that might be an alternative explanation.

No, she thinks she'll get amazing press. And she did. The result of that dress is she went from being Marilyn Manson's girlfriend to having a regular TV gig.
