There are many parts of their religions which I think are untrue, but I would never say that their religions are untrue as a whole.

Thanks for your reply.

I believe Judaism is true and I believe Christianity is true.

I would not comment on any other religion but one because I do not them.

However, I do know Islam and I believe it to be, at its foundation, pure evil. Islam, to its strict adherents, condones and indeed encourages misogeny, pederasty, murder of Christians and Jews, lying, etc.

Understand, this is not a comment on humans who follow that religion, it is a comment only on Islam.

It is much to lengthly a discussion to have with someone who is not familiar with the Qur'an and the life of Mohammed, so I direct you to them and the writings of people who are former Muslims (they are not divided in their understanding or opinion of Islam).

The problem with Kyle's viewpoint is that it leaves Christians as moral jellyfish, merely yielding and adjusting to what the culture dictates, so that we may seem to be orderly and not insistent on our own ideas as public policy.

Wrong. The morality is within the soul of the man and the institutions of faith he/she supports. The world can do whatever they want, but I will hold to the best of my ability the scriptures. As Kyle states, mans laws will not last to do this. Only man's commitment to his faith will. Period.

When we encourage change with the will people, then we will win more to faith instead of to the law.

One other thing I forgot, and it's probably the most important, the move to Christianize our government is the desire to impact our society through man and not through the message of Chris. We are to a point putting up idols rather than giving all to God and Christ and letting Him guide the events of the world.

God cannot create evil

Obviously not, to say that God creates evil is contradictory. But God created everything that is. And everything that God created is good. God created Hitler and he raised him up, hardened his heart, and brought him down, to God's glory, just like Pharaoh. In the sense that Hitler brought glory to God, still does, he was good.

...then we are screwed and we might as well be following Shiva or Vishnu or some other useless god.

I don't know about you, but I don't follow God because He is useful, I follow God because I am useful. He chose me. He is the potter, I am the clay. Hitler was also useful, obviously as a "vessel of wrath, fitted for destruction". It's interesting that you mention Hindu religion which spearheads the notion that good and evil are opposites. I think it's clear that they are not. I believe that evil is the absence of good just as darkness is the absence of light and hence it is not created. In the begining God did not say: "Let there be darkness!"

that is a mistranslation of the Hebrew PASSIVE voice

Romans was written in Greek. Did Paul, a Pharisee, mistranslate the Hebrew?!?! Look at the context! "It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort"Has someone decieved you? The notion that God just "allows" everything and only intervenes when his servants invoke Him, like some magic jenie, sounds like a weak form of deism to me. Everything, every little thing, that has ever happened has happened because God made it happen. Even horrific things: despicable kings, blind children, towers that fall, the apparent ruin of faithful servants or the slaughter of Emmanuel. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Being selfless, in my opinion, does not mean being a doormat for every liberal idea coming down the pike. If we don't stand up for our rights as individuals and Christians, we will lose them. Period. It's already happening. If the majority of Americans are Christians, then we should have a big say in what goes on in government, especially that which is eroding our values.

You are SO wrong. How many Christians flew planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon? How many Christians are capturing, killing and beheading innocent people or raping their captives? Go back to DU, troll.

Evangelicals are one step behind Muslims.

You're right, and we need to move way ahead of them!

Call it "weak deism" or whatever. You interpret scripture your way, and I'll interpret it the right way. Faith works. God put us in charge of the planet from day one when He told Adam to have "dominion" (authority, control) over the planet. Notice that Jesus could do "no mighty works" in Nazareth. Huh? I thought He was God? He was---but His works depended on the faith of the people being "worked on." Notice that in EVERY CASE where He healed someone, He did not credit Himself, or even GOd, but their FAITH.

But, like I say, interpret things as you wish. God did not give us Hitler.

If you think that Jesus "the author and finisher" of faith derives His power from the faith of the faithful, then why do the faithful even need Jesus? If Adam and Eve had only have had more FAITH, they could have done naked cartwheels in presence of God, after all, the garden was their dominion. If Judas and Peter had only have had more FAITH they could have exercised their kingdom dominion and overthrown the illigitimate governments of Caiphus, Herod and Ceasar right?!?! The issue is not interpretation, you rip scripture from the very context of it's verse to suit your lust for power which trys to diminish the power of Christ.

"And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them." - so obviously his lack of work was from a lack of audience, not a lack of faith.

May the "FAITH" be with you young jedi!

Man, you really are off. Adam and Eve did not need faith: they needed obedience, and as long as they WERE obedient, their faith worked. Oh, and Peter's faith did work, over and over and over. One time he was praying in prison (wonder what he was praying about?): an angel showed up and released him. But you can't get around Jesus, Who said, "Daughter, your FAITH has made you whole." (Not "My power," or even "God's power.") It was her faith IN His power, but in Nazareth no one had no such faith, hence, no one got healed there. Repeatedly Jesus chastized His disciples for "little faith," so there must be degrees of faith.

And talk about ripping things out of context. Yes, Jesus is the author and finisher---we have all the tools we need to do what we need to do, but some (you apparently) don't think it is your "right" to use those tools. So, go tool-less. I'm out. No more theology from me. Post all you want.
