"We got a lot of guns off the street," Piekarski said. "Even though we feel he may not be a really bad guy, these guns can cause very serious injury or death to someone on the street." WTF!

Handgun count isn't bad, but don't see how folks up north get by with only eight rifles and two shotguns per family It's worse than that, there were three families living in the house, or at least 3 adult males. (The story is a little ambiguous on that point).

If it was manufactured prior to 1896 I believe it is not even classified as a "firearm" and would therefore not be illegal (at least as far as the feds and several other cities and states are concerned). Does he have a lawyer?

Even a single barrel muzzleloader is illegal in NYC.

B.S. The guns were in the apartment. The Police took them out onto the street...

"i believe he is not really a bad guy"--
but now he will be defenseless in a city full of bad guys... who are now going through his collection to see what they would like to keep.

What about the police doing something about those "local teens" that this man had a dispute with and felt threatened by?

I don't know. I've got a lot to think about in the writing of Domestic Enemies though.
