Initially I chuckled at the title, but the article raises some interesting points, despite the bias displayed by the author in the hypothetical "Summer 2205" panels.

Now I'm really worried. My young teen wants to be an archaeologist.....and somedays I'd like to send her into space.....

She can be one of the pioneers in this field! :)

SG1 is her favorite show, and Daniel Jackson is her hero. It all makes me very nervous.....

Intellectual poison. Private property rights need to be placed in space, not Marxism and the tragedy of the commons.
Notice how everything is controlled by "the central bureau". The archaeologists very existence depends on the whim of some bureaucrat. What a nightmare.

"Leaving her field team as they continued to document the massive Halliburton gantry on asteroid Q36,"
That's not such a far fetched or a bad thing.

Did you catch these lines?
-"Gan's doctoral work on the rise and fall of the American Empire had taken her to several aerospace museums around the world."
-"As she crossed from the Leakey to the primitive lunar module, Gan recognized the faded red, white, and blue symbol that represented the classic 50-state alliance at the height of its global preeminence, a time of technological triumph, social unrest, and dietary disaster.
-"...it would be another half century before Americans realized--too late--that such sugar- and corn syrup-based foods had led their nation into cultural and physical obesity."
Nope. No agenda there.

I happen to like that show.
Do you wan't me to ping Aasgard, T'ealc, DanielJackson, Thor and other Freepers to flame you?
As far as archeology, what's wrong with that field? Think of it as hands-on history.

Archaeology Magazine is a leftist rag. I cancelled my subscription years ago because of its Marxist propaganda.

SG1: They mostly show the military and the U.S. in good light. That's pretty rare on TV these days.

It will be ok, I survived two daughters who are now very happy productive adults. This was without the benefit of an orbital launcher. More gray hair now but I'm told that was going to happen anyway!

As a former archaeologist I'd disuade her, but it was a lot of fun and I learned a whole lot about how to live in remote locations w/little $$$. :-)
Did I mention it was a lot of fun?
