There already was one recount... but since the Democrats did not like the result of that recount, they want another recount. They want to keep counting the votes over and over until they come out ahead... and then once they're even a single vote ahead, it is time to cease counting and to "move on" for the "good of the state."
I thought you were using the name Richard Hertz.
The margin was over 200, until we DID a recount - a state-law mandated recount of the entire state - and after King County found an extra box of ballots laying around, the margin ended up at 42. We already DID a recount... Rossi won TWICE. Now, he's officially certified...
I knew he was a cheap f__ker but 'fer crissakes... the guy's got 17M leftover from the campaign!
Gregoire really sounds desperate in her pleadings. With only 42 votes separating them, 2 or 3 million in the right pockets could easily turn this thing around!
I called as Mike Hunt from Medina......
I think the name was Jack Mehoff.
I did that last time... ;0) Next time, I'll be posing as a woman, with the name Jenna Taylia...
I thought I had read that a candidate could request a partial recount (at their expense), and that if it produced enough of a change to alter the outcome, the law required the entire state to be recounted at taxpayer expense. Either that isn't true, or this is a strange stand for Gregoire to be taking.
"Has anyone seen Mike Hunt?"
(Classic line from a classic movie)
I'm not sure how another count is going to change anything. They already went mining for bogus "intent of the voter" votes in Kings County during the initial recount.
Porky's right ?
Gregoire is feeling the heat - from papers that endorsed her. She knows if she asks for a partial recount in selected areas, and somehow pulls out a win, she's pretty well screwed politically...
You are correct. If the final manual recount changed the outcome of the race, then the counties and districts of the state would pick up the tab -- whether they had budgeted for it or not. If the outcome did not change, then the party requesting the recount would have to pay the entire cost.
Bingo!
I was under the impression that any and all monies that F'in had were required to be returned to the government... that he owed the govt something like $45 mil. I know he opted out of the matching fund deal, but I still remember reading this. Can someone clear this up?
Ah, a "Porky's" fan.
I did not know there had already been one recount. That recount should stand. That was one close election.
Kerry reminds me of Jack Benny's silent response to, "Your money or your life!"
Yup. I've a fine appreciation for the intellectual, high-brow humour that was so adeptly portrayed in that film.
