Yet so Scheuer does: "We can either reaffirm current policies, thereby denying their role in creating the hatred bin Laden personifies, or we can examine and debate the reality we face, the threat we must defeat, and then — if deemed necessary — devise policies that better suit U.S. interests."
What do all three of these accomplishments have in common? Very simple: They could potentially offend an important section of Muslim opinion. It would seem that the former head of the CIA's bin Laden unit would regard the actual capture of bin Laden as the most catastrophic possible defeat of all.

Its pretty obvious that the CIA is shot through with incompetants who feed at the government trough and then undermine those they are responsible to.
That Valeria Plume "kerfuffle" is another good example. A Bill Clinton group that just made one mistake - they didn't get John F-ing Kerry elected with their leaks and now they will pay the price.

It is exactly what we are talking about. The Muslims are great at acting like beasts, murdering innocents in their thousands, and then turning around and acting like the aggrieved party when folks get ticked off at them. I refuse to appease them by even considering their demands so long as they use terrorism as an instrument of political power.
Screw the Muslims and the Arabs and what they do and do not want. The Nazis and the Japanese were a far more formidable foe than are the Muslims. We must fight them and defeat them utterly, no matter what the cost and no matter how long it takes. Radical Islam is at least as vile and pernicious a political philosophy as Nazism and Fascism.
And to mischaracterize Scheuer's statements on Bin Laden as you are doing does nothing to advance your position any place it may matter.
If you want to characterize our war against Bin Laden thus far as being perfection embodied, then have fun.
If, on the other hand, you view it as being imperfect, with room both for constructive criticism of past actions and an opportunity to apply lessons learned towards future operations, then I'd be happy to discuss matters with you.
And you are hold up Operation Anaconda as a success? How many high level Taliban and al-Qaida did the operation capture or kill?
Since Operation Anaconda did not capture any high level Taliban or al-Qaida it shows that using American troops in similar conditions in Tora Bora would not have been successful. You have illustrated the folly of your position.
