I've listened to PHC a lot, and enjoyed the heck out of it... but increasingly had the sneaking suspicion that Keiller was sniggering up his sleeve at the Christians who listened to his show. His own personal issues came out more in his writings, then in his stories. It's not difficult to see how the Donks deaden his conscience about his own moral choices.

It's sad. Unlike, I guess, a lot of FReepers, I think he's very talented. But unfortunately also bitter, hateful, spiteful, petty, ignorant, and God-haunted.

Someone should tell him, since he`s being "technical" that "technically" noone has the right to vote. The constitution leaves the "right" up to individual states as to how they divide their electors, most use a popular election.

All the Constitution does is to protect the people from the government taking away their rights as given by the states.

The 15th amendment protects rights in accordance to race, creed or color.

The 19th protects in accordance to gender.

The 24th protects from any poll taxes or fees due to be paid.

No amendment or article actually gives the right to vote.

I don't actually think Keillor's comment should be taken that seriously, or cause this much discussion, and it looks like many people are missing the point, anyway. Religion is something that is very personal to each and every person. What they believe, the way they practice their religion, and their views of right and wrong are influenced by religion, and this is not a bad thing. This country was founded on Judeo/Christian values and beliefs, however, it also allowed religious freedoms, and to that end, contemplated a division of Church and State. In the history of the world, how many people have been killed in the name of religion, or for religious freedom. This country is founded on religious tolerance and acceptance of all religions, not just the ones that view the world as a Born-Agian Christian does. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with that view, it is just seems to outsiders that born-agian Christians, seek to impose their view on what is right on everyone else, regardless of their beliefs. Who is to say that born-again Christians are right. Look to Ireland, were Catholics are waring with protestants. Both believe in Christ, and use his name to justify their position. This fanaticism is what I think Keillor was referring to. He was not disparaging all Christians, but wanted to point out that religion, while important, does not belong in politics, and that religion in politics can never lead to a good result, because there allegiance is not to the United States, but to God, and their view of God, which seems to contradict the freedoms that this country stands for. I think he is saying that not everyone believes in Christ, and you know what, they have every right to their beliefs, without undo hardships.

We all need to get along, and be accepting and tolerant of each others religious beliefs, and not polarize this nation across religious lines. There is nothing wrong with expressing your beliefs, and preaching the lords word, but when it starts to infringe on the rights of others, who do not necessarily believe the same thing we do, we must draw a line. We should concentrate on getting our houses in order, rather that trying to force others to. Let's not be viewed as vocal, ignorant hating bigots, which is how the other 50% seems to view us. Let us concentrate on ourselves, and get ourselves in line, before we try to force our views on others who think that those views are old fashioned. I saw a recent survey which showed us Red States with a higher divorce rate than Blue states. And while teenage pregnancy is dropping, it Mississippi is still the highest (Red) and Maine the lowest (Blue). These two surveys seem to show the other 50% that we can't even practice what we preach. We need to stop blaming, and start fixing our own community first! Now I will probably be bashed for these comments, but if you are going to bash me, please remember, I am a fellow Christian....
