A real hero. Amen.
What a sweet story! Thanks for sharing it. Thanks esp. for your kindness, which is 180º from what he would have had otherwise. What a blessing you and your wife were able send him off with! Praying for his protection and that of our other soldiers. We (Jacksonville) just lost a son ...
What a wonderful monument and memorial! Where is that? And, h'mmm, did I detect a note of pride in your namesake, lol?!
Cyn, you lost a son....? I'm so very sorry...
NO! sorry for confusion -- rather, from this area. He died last Fri in Fallujah, but the info just came out yesterday ... we were talking at the Veterans' Day parade how especially poignant the remembrance was, knowing what was happening in Iraq, then when I got home ... this info had come out. I was standing next to a wonderful Navy wife w/ two young sons ... we hugged at the end, and I told her she had the prayers of soooo many people (knowing all of us here at FR, PLUS, do!).
