That's exactly how I feel.
Betrayed.
Bush campaigned on a lot of good things, is he acting on any of those campaign pledges? No, Bush's first use of his newly gotten political capital is this amnesty sellout of America.
I've lost lots of jobs to illegals. They underbid the drywall and painting contractors when they are independent, and supply cheap labor to the big contractors, so they can make more money AND keep prices lower than natural. Why is it that people that profess to believe in the market place setting value on work, allow it to be unaturally disrupted, by a govt subsidized illegal alien workforce?
You're all over the place. So now you object to funding schools with school bonds and only want them financed with taxes. Is that right? You are calling for higher taxes?
And all y'all should just calm down. You're watching the left hand while the right hand works. Have faith and trust, you're watching a master tactician, and I trust his stategery completely.
They are fringers, nothing more, nothing less.
The people came out, elected a President, went back to the business of living their lives...and the fringers now have a bigger share of time to complain.
Dude, that's why they are here. They didn't cross the border just to piss off "radicalamericannationalist." There's not a group of Mexicans sitting around plotting how to screw you tomorrow. They are here because this is where the money to feed their family is. It ain't in Chiapas that's for sure.
Those who belittle others making an honest living are snobs, disagreement should be based on politics, not what someone's job is.
Small problem: US Attorneys are evaluated on the basis of how many convictions they get. A high acquittal rate is considered proof of ineffectiveness.
Of course, you may wish to change the evaluation criteria to reward US Attorneys for accomplishing nothing. Rewarding government employees for non-achievement is something that there already is entirely too much of; I see no reason to further accelerate that trend. (c8
2. Let's not make that assumption, until you can link to some stats backing it up.
US Attorneys are evaluated on how many cases they successfully prosecute. A high number of failed prosecutions is proof of prosecutorial ineffectiveness. This creates an environment where cases that are not likely to generate convictions are not brought in the first place, and cases that are likely to generate convictions are brought in their stead.
The paucity of cases against employers is evidence that this is the present situation.
The only problem with the Republicans banking on keeping and increasing the percentage of Hispanic votes, is they will have to govern as liberally as GW or more so.
You do. I pay $6000 in property taxes every year. That's your share (you have to divide it with others though). You also get a cut when I sell it from all the taxes on that transaction.
Don't nobody in this country flat out "own" their home.
It's not that they are idiots, it's just that they want to push in a certain direction.
What we need to get to a situation where lots more illegals are voluntarily going home than are coming. The way to do this is strengthened employer sanctions. The resulting labor stortage, would likely lead to press for more legal immigration, which is fine with me. Once people see that the problem is going in the right direction, there won't be so much push for draconian solutions.
The key is to send to prison, for short periods, people who knowingly employ illegals and/or fail to properly check paperwork.
How would you hear more about cases not being brought?
You are again ignoring jails and hospitals.
You are also seeming to think that bonds are free money. They are not. Debt costs money and is paid off in tax dollars. Thus, even if illegals purchase bonds that are used today to pay off the expenses they incur, they will actually earn money on those bonds.
We all survived Reagan doing it.
You're are a fraud!
We didn't all survive you idiot. The landscape is LITTERED with American victims of illegal alien crimes including some of our own police officers.
Spit!
They are not going to risk not being allowed back in the US...period. Open your eyes.
If President Bush attempts to press guest worker legislation that would legalize illegal aliens, the result will be a politically poisonous stalemate.
Under a Tancredo proposal, illegal aliens who don't return home to avail themselves of that guest worker plan would risk being removed from the country with no hope of ever reentering legally. That might not be the highlight of their Christmas lists, but that's not the main concern. Tancredo's guest worker proposal would be better than what we have now, and would be far more politically salable than any legalization plan.
Best neews of the day!
Yes but they should not be allowed to make money by using our social services.
How about work to make the children of those here illegally, ineligble for citizenship, disallow any sort of social services, make them pay cash money for medical and make them pay the going rate for education. They will leave in droves.
Like the local law enforcement's selling of cars or other property confiscated from people (sometimes not even convicted) who were caught transporting drugs or large amounts of money?
