Have been trying to call the station for almost an hour. They seem to have taken their phone off the hook OR thousands of angry listeners are calling in...
Here's the URL for Clear Channel. Let's flood them with protests about them bowing to these trumped-up complaints by taking Mark off the air.
Mark has a huge following and is the best filler for Rush. He gets irritating at times but very entertaining. Hope he comes back also that his Sunday TV show on channel 58 stays.
I'm disappointed at the disproportionate reaction by the Spanish speaking community.
I'm livid! Let WISN and Clearchannel hear it from us all.
Call Carson-Wagonlit (sp?) and other sponsors that pulled their ads from Belling and let them know they're in for a world of hurt.
Ah...can't say 'wetback' on the air, but the left can spew their anti-Christian, anti-Southron blather 24/7 on the airwaves and in the papers without ANY consequence whatsoever?
I listen to Belling all the time. He is super conservative, and the only problem I have with him is sometimes he is so hard line that he will even chew out the people that agree with him.He is much harder on his Milwaukee show than when he is subbing for Rush. Also Jerry Bott is a good guy, he must be getting pressure to kick Belling off.
Doubt the TV show will stay; C-BS 58 was leading the TV charge to dump Belling.
Don't forget to give a heads-up to Rush, maybe encourage him to take another look at his syndication options.
Well I live in Milwaukee. His apology on the air following the initial statement was dripping with sarcasm and certainly did not seem sincere by any means. Belling often uses comments that would seem to be racist although the comments are typically indirect in that he does not specifically say what group he is referring to. However, it is very apparent to those that can read between the lines. This time, he did use specifics and indeed use a racial slur. I have also waited on Mark Belling as I use to wait tables part time in a fine dining restaurant. I have to say that he is just as arrogant in person as he is on the air. I cannot say that I like the man. As for the comment about the idiots that slashed the tires of the vans being used by the Republican party, that story is still very much in the spotlight here in Milwaukee. Especially after it was determined that one of the culprits was the son of Gwen Moore, recently elected congresswoman.
Have you heard him the 3 or 4 times he subbed for Rush? I though he was exceptionally good doing a national show.
It's not yet officially a firing, but the city of Milwaukee, the Latino community and the rest of the media are pushing for that final step now that ClearChannel caved.
also, I don't know if any of you saw this, but I find it rather interesting considering the bad blood that exists between Kane and Belling:

Yes - that's what I'm saying, he's better than the Milwaukee market.
"His apology on the air following the initial statement was dripping with sarcasm and certainly did not seem sincere by any means."
First of all...welcome to Free Republic. I heard his apology and I did not infer from it as you obviously did. I do think he was very wary of the reporter/interviewer interrogating him. It sounds to me like you already have determined that you don't like him and that fact would make it difficult to fairly judge the sincerity of his apology.
Also, as far as Gwen Moore's offspring and his cohort Pratt, I'd be amazed if anything comes out of their criminal activity. No Republican in Milwaukee has the testicles to take it to them with both barrels.
With all the true racist comments that go on shows like Michael McGee's show, Bellings comment was mild, not a good idea, but not the bomb shell it has been made out to be.
This whole thing is not about WHAT he said, it is about WHO said it.
