No, this case was always about strong circumstantial evidence and consciousness of guilt. There is no reasonable doubt for ME to convict him. My God, even Laci's parents, who loved Scott, realize beyond a reasonable doubt he killed her.

OTOH, over the months of reading posts from some very intelligent FReepers, I've had to conclude a couple of the twelve jurors might not convict. If they couldn't convict from strong circumstantial evidence, they shouldn't have served on this particular jury, IMHO.

She showed up dead at the very place Scott said he was, and for that matter, probably dead since the day he was there. What are the odds of that happening?

Scott was leading a double life, and financially going under. He had many motives for wanting her dead. No one else did.

Scott ALWAYS had his cell phone with him, but golly...he just LEFT it in his truck while he was fishing, so he says. Then he fakes calls to his dead wife on the way home. Why didn't he call his girlfriend? Why didn't he try and call Laci on her cell phone when he couldn't get hold of her at home?

Old habits die hard, and Scott was addicted to that cell phone. That cell phone enabled him to carry off his desception of being out of the country or where ever he wanted people to think he was...it was his Best Friend. I can't replay all the evidence, but Scott was more than just a jerk. He has been described as a sociopath. Big difference.

I do believe Gergas or that former juror NO. 5 is lurking here or maybe merely those who argued that Westerfield was innocent.
