"Posting unsubstantiated rumors without, any basis in fact, in the middle of a close election, did none of us any good."

Amen. And worse still, it undermined the work done by people who put a lot more time and effort into this than you know.

NC seems to seek the limelight and doesn't want to do the hard work to warrant it.

Well there it is I suppose. Ortiz appears to be a smart man. Seems to know the ends and outs. Seems to have nailed me -- I seek the limelight? Do I bother myself by answering that? I guess not, wouldn't be worth it. Hey Ortiz, where are you coming from? What side were you working for running up to the election?

- Chief

"Well, except for the last episode with the rally, Chief did not lead us on with false hope. When he said something would happen, it did."

Could you cite a specific?

I can't think of a single thing that NC uncovered or reported that advanced the Kerry story in any substantial way.

I did see him promise much--in fact things that would stop the Kerry campaign cold.

I hate to say it, but I think we have a case of someone latching on the good work of others (the Swifties and the others who did the real spade work on Kerry) for his own stab at glory.

The comments on this thread show how confused many are about what NC's contributions were.

Sir, thank you and the rest of the Swift Boat Vets for your courage. We are grateful for all you've done and continue to do for our country.

"Hey Ortiz, where are you coming from? What side were you working for running up to the election?"

Nice try.

I used to post here as Hon. I posted much of the info that helped destroy Kerry right here at FR.

I also got my old friend Tom Lipscomb to put some of it into print. Which is why I don't appreciate a johnny-come lately underminining that work with a lot of unsubstantiated allegations that never panned out.

Don't worry, Chief, you're appreciated by us. Don't let a few blowhards get you down. I'm sure there really was a lot going on behind the scenes, including stuff you and I can only conjecture about. For example, you might enjoy my post #4 at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1270764/posts

Chief -

You stuck it out for 20 years or so in the Navy and you're worried about what WE think!!??

It's guys like you and the Swift Boat vets who made the issues in this election so crystal clear. So you missed a deadline - big deal. We still won the war, even if we lost a skirmish or two.

The point is, the biggest part of the election is over - Kerry lost. We have LOTS of time for the mopping up action (and there are a lot of questions/issues with Kerry that need to be resolved) and we will patiently wait for as many shoes to drop as it takes to fully expose this guy.

When you get your info, we'll look forward to reading it. Ignore the whiners and work to your strengths.

Sometimes people wish they lived in an ideal world, where the villains get their comeuppance instantly.

It's usually not that simple. You guys did a lot, and maybe made the difference in the election. We'd have liked more, but it just wasn't in the cards.

I'm still hoping this can be seen through to the finish, for the honor of our Vietnam veterans, and to teach people not to play games and build careers with the lives and honor of our military heroes.

"If you never reveal another thing, what you have revealed has been priceless, valuable beyond measure. Thank you from a grateful nation."

Huh?

I think you are confusing Navy Chief with the Swifties.

Last time, Ortiz then I'll assume you will go away. I am a part of the Swifties. I'm not old enough to have served with them but they adopted me into their organization. I've met almost all of them and to their credit, they are great men with more honor, integrity, success, and humility than the "gang" you obviously hang out with. They certainly were courageous and sacrificed more than any of us will know in this fight. I am proud to have contributed a small portion to their testimony. I'm sure that since you are intelligent then you have read the articles in the Chicago Sun Times and NY Sun which I painstakingly worked with Lipscomb. What do we know about Kerry now? He wrote the after-action report for 13 Mar 69. He was dismissed from the Navy under dishonorable conditions and had his medals revoked and was subsequently pardoned under Carter. He met with the enemy during a time of war and was given guidance and support to their cause. In fact, he spewed their propaganda almost word for word. He indeed provided aid and comfort to the enemy. These are all true and his time has come to answer for this. Now, go away so I can offer my apologies to those people who were unintentionally affected by my actions; about whom I really care for -- in case you don't get the picture, that doesn't include YOU!

- Chief

Chill, Chief!
You owe no one any apology. I'm sure that you still have more important things to concern yourself with than the opinion of all of us. You are a great American. Some of us got your back. Keep up the fight and keep in touch.

The Truth will set us free--and God Bless you and the Swifties for being on the side of truth--even if it cannot be fully revealed to everyone's satisfaction.

What really scared me about a Kerry admin was the thought of Holbrooke and his ilk being in charge of our national defense or security. The terrorists would have really been celebrating if that had happened. Thank God--and thank you and the Swifties--it did not!

There's enough out there to sink Kerry. Stay the course.

Kerry was sunk. On 11/2. He is toast. It is over.

Navy Chief, you have done a great job, and I for one salute you. There are some folks here that tend to over react. The bottom line is your contribution made a difference. We won.
Liberalism was defeated. Keep up the good work.

Chief, as the daughter and sister of Vietnam vets, I have nothing but great respect for you and the arduous work you have done. I've been waiting a long long time for this, my patience has not worn, as I know that justice shall prevail.

Thank you Sir, for all you've done and for the work ahead of you. The prayers of this family are with you.
