I think this is a real tragedy. This man obviously had serious mental health problems made worse by the election (or perhaps the election was a proxy for them). My prayers for him and his family.

The blame lies at the feet of the democrats. They fed and nurtured his sickness.

From this morning's Atlanta paper:
A recent graduate of the University of Georgia at Athens shot himself at ground zero in New York City on Saturday morning, according to authorities.

Athens resident and University employee Andrew Veal, 25, was found inside the reconstruction area of the former World Trade Center, on top of a structure housing subway lines. A worker in a nearby hotel spotted someone who seemed to be sleeping inside the site, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

No suicide note was found, but authorities discovered a gunshot wound to his head and the weapon at the location.

"It's apparently a suicide," Coleman said. "There was a shotgun found at the body."

Coleman said New York authorities, who were also working with Athens police, are looking into possible reasons for the suicide, as well as how Veal got into the heavily fenced site.

Veal, who was engaged, was a project coordinator at the Survey Research Center at UGA, a branch of the Institute for Behavioral Research. He oversaw 25 to 30 employees who conduct telephone surveys for state and nonprofit organizations.

He graduated from UGA with a degree in sociology, but was not a student at the present time, friends said.

Mary Ann Mauney, research coordinator at the center and Veal's supervisor, said no one knows why Veal took his life, but "I do think he chose the location for a purpose."

He also worked at an Athens restaurant as a cook. A vegetarian, Veal had plans to attend culinary school, said Leigh Hall, a UGA grad student and employee. He was "very liberal" and interested in politics, she said.

A definate tragedy....also a symptom of an overall condition for when you look at this story, the violence/vandalism on GOP offices, the migrations to Canada etc. etc. shows just how emotionally unstable the fringe left has become. These are some sick puppies indeed..

also goes to show how selfish they are for now that young man's family, fiance have to suffer his loss and I am sure his self centered thinking kept that out of his mind before he pulled the trigger.

come on guys, let's be a little more sensitive. this is very tragic. He must have had pre-existing problems - "normal" people don't kill themselves over an election, especially when they have something good in their lives to look forward to like a marriage. That's why this is so sad, that this man didn't get help before it was too late. Pray for him and his family.

You gotta' read the whole article at Newsday to fully appreciate this story. The Newsday piece is the funniest unintentionally funny piece that I've read in a long, long time. It's almost to the point that you ask yourself, ''Is this sarcasm?''

This case can easily be understood if we simply apply some simple Dem (read dim) Logic:

John Kerry's hunting-trip/photo-op showed him carrying a shotgun, the same type of weapon the man offed himself with. Therefore, it must be John Kerry's fault.

A shotgun was found nearby, but no suicide note was found, Coleman said.
"I'm absolutely sure it's a protest," Mary Anne Mauney, Veal's supervisor at the lab, told The Daily News. "I don't know what made him commit suicide, but where he did it was symbolic."
As there is no suicide note to indicate the reason for this young man's suicide only the speculation of those who knew him. I had a friend who was about the same age who commited suicide the same way. He and I were playing guitar that morning, it was a gorgeous morning and he was showing me a new song, "Hey, Joe" the Jimi Hendrix song,
Hey Joe, where you going with that gun or you hand
To this day, I cannot listen to that song, I change the station when it comes on the radio.
To blame this man's death on the re-election of President Bush is typical of the Democrats. Above all, take no blame.

WTF?? Twenty-five years old, a good job and apparently a bright future, and he throws it away over this petty B.S.? His family and friends must be going through hell right now.

In a lot of ways, this is symbolic. One of the victims of 9/11 was the liberal accommodationist mindset, that lukewarm kumbaya utopian delusion that we're all brothers and sisters and that the world is full of butterflies and rainbows. The harsh reality is that there are people in that world of sunshine who have never seen the sunshine, and who want to kill us for no sane reason.

By blowing his skull apart at Ground Zero, this chump demonstrated the utter futility of the peacnik movement, its total inability to cope with adversity. Aside from the fact that his corrupt, cowardly blood now mingles with that of the innocents and pollutes this sacred ground, this was an act that should be applauded.

I imagine the groundskeepers might hold a different opinion ...
