The first thing I thought was "Thank God he did not take anyone else with him." I am very concerned that some of the screaming babies I have heard refusing to believe in the voice of the people of the USA running amok in some midwestern or Southern Wal-Mart before killing him or herself.
Yes it is a tragedy when someone realizes he or she has based an entire life on an illusion. I had a friend who killed himself when Star Trek was cancelled -- his whole reason for living had been destroyed. The very sad thing is that nobody cared enough to try to reach him before he took this tragic final step.
I was deeply saddened. When I learned it wasn't Micheal Moore.
I guess you made that comment out of either total ignorance or you did not thoroughly read my post I guess...I stated yes its a tragedy and yes due to that young man's self centered thinking his family and loved ones have to suffer..what else do I need to say? Its also ok to pull up from that event and look at what is going on around you for a higher level perspective. Keep your handle "MinorLeaguer" it serves you very well. freegards
WTF?? Twenty-five years old, a good job and apparently a bright future, and he throws it away over this petty B.S.? His family and friends must be going through hell right now.
Coward.
I certainly hope this doesn't become a fad.
They just got that area all cleaned up.
As was this guys act.
By blowing his skull apart at Ground Zero, this chump demonstrated the utter futility of the peacnik movement, its total inability to cope with adversity. Aside from the fact that his corrupt, cowardly blood now mingles with that of the innocents and pollutes this sacred ground, this was an act that should be applauded.
I imagine the groundskeepers might hold a different opinion ...
Lets see, between this, abortion and Canadian immigration who is going to be left to vote for the DUmmies in 2008?
I was trying to separate one man's extreme mental illness from the violence done against Republican offices, which I think is just evil. I don't the two events are necessarily of the same piece, and that's where you and I differ.
I am sorry if you were offended by that.
I also don't understand the personal attack on me or my handle, but whatever. Can we not civilly disagree on this?
I agree. Monsters such as Hussein or Arafat deserve that type of behavior (and more!), but not this guy.
That said, I wonder if he'll still be voting democrat in the future...
He went to a place where suiciders killed thousands. We should be glad he didn't take out anyone else.
He should have got a life... oops. Too late.
Honestly, he should have had friends and family who would have talked with him about this. If Skerry would have won, I to, would have been depressed but I would have prepared myself to defeat him in 4 years. There are far more important things in ones life than an election. shhheeesh!
Hey gang, come on, lighten up.
This article will have an initial impact on people in a variety of ways. Sadness, empathy, humor, stupidity.... It just depends on how one relates to it at a particular time.
But I'm pretty sure everyone, when it comes to the bottom line, feels properly sad in the end. This is a discussion forum, not a wake.
My initial reaction was sadness for the family he left behind. I know the families of 3 suicides, and this is no joke. I wish the lamestream would take a look at what they created, and perhaps the screaming shenanigans of AlGore...
Maybe more dangerous is the possibility that this young man killed himself for just the reasons that the article stated - as a protest.
At some point, after life has been denigrated to the point of convenience due to the philosophies of Peter Singer and Margaret Sanger and a host of others, life at any point in time becomes merely a 'personal choice.'
In the wake of decades of attacks on traditional Christian values and the incorporation of eastern religious ideas into education, the syncretism of faith, apostacy and political ideology becomes normal.
In a day and age where murderous zealots slaughter thousands and mutilate victims at will, we have a press and intellectual class that actually believes these acts are justified - nay - provoked by the United States and those of us that oppose global chaos.
It is entirely believable to me that a young person in today's society could come to the place - without any mental disability - where the killing of oneselves is perceived as a noble gesture for a higher good.
As more sludge is drained from the self-cleansing gene pool.....
