I can save John Edwards a lot of time and trouble here.
You will never be elected to any national office at any time from now until the day you die.
You have $ 50 million in the bank. Go tend to your family.
edwards (and all the scumbag trial lawyers) will reap what they sow --- and I hope he feels the pains for a long-long time.
Biting, but well deserved. My condolences to Mrs. Edwards and best wishes for a full recovery.
My wife made this point yesterday when we heard the news.
I like to think there's a special place in hell just for trial lawyers.
Good point. I think the most nervous sector of society has got to be ambulance-chasing, scum-sucking trial lawyers. They got their boy in the queue, got a lot of press on just who they are, what they do, and their effect on society, and then lost their chance to enact laws to protect their worthless hides. Now they've got a gun-slinging cowboy with a rope in office who has made it clear that bottom-feeding shysters are in his sights. Thanks Mr. Edwards.
Sad -- but accurate.

"But with John Edwards geared up for a fight and nowhere to vent it, and already looking at what he's going to do for the next few years, he's obviously got to take a look at chasing a few ambulances again."
Nope, he'll end up doing what Gore is doing: flapping his gums in a liberal college. We won't be hearing this name at all in just a few more days. Quick, who was Dukasis's running mate???
John Edwards is a scum bag, but cancer is no laughing matter. Leave Mrs. E out of this, she will be going through devistating trials enough as it is.
If Edwards was any kind of man, he'd go join millions of others in a fight against cancer, and be there for his wife. He should just shut up now and dissapear. Lets not forget Edwards lost his son 2 years ago, so this is another emontional challenge for his family, and a personal horror for mrs. E.
As a physician, I will say that the Hippocratic Oath transcend all. We in the medical profession will treat all comers, all who are afflicted and will be nonjudgemental toward all. In my 20 years as a cardiologist, I have treated many trial lawyers, as well as jailed criminals and murderers... They all feel helpless, cower in fear and cry for help just like anyone else would when their life, or their family members' life is on the line. We in the medical profession are beyond such pettiness and will uphold the nobility of our practice as we are entrusted with the very life of our nation. But I do agree that we desperately need medical liability reform.
The really sad thing is: With John Edwards reputation for frivolous malpractice lawsuits, will there be some reluctance on the part of physicicians to get involved with the cancer therapy for Elizabeth Edwards, his wife?

I have heard it said that when trial lawyers die, they won't be buried like everyone else -- they will have to be screwed into the ground.
Excellent post. And it is good to see that the medical profession still has the high moral values.
Lawyers are more that any single thing are dragging our country down. That is why I would never make a good Dr. because I would tell this Trial Lawyer POS to go pound sand.
Sen. Loyd Benson...of Texas
But then I'm a political junkie!!1 lol
In a situation like this, would you insist on a pre-op "hold no harm" contract?
