Just one of Robert Reich's ancestors.

As a physical anthropology major in college, I can attest that this is indeed an amazing find, one that will alter the human evolution charts in the future.

I hate you! I specifically signed onto this thread to make the same comment, as Reich flashed through my mind when I read the headline. Obviously you are a genius, so I won't try to top you.

I don't see what the big deal is.
(1) It could just be a case of dwarfism - one skeleton doesn't tell us all that much.
(2) There are pygmies in Africa - it doesn't seem that a nation of pygmies in Indonesia that all died are particularly shocking.

As a physical anthropology major in college, I can attest that this is indeed an amazing find, one that will alter the human evolution charts in the future. As an engineer, I am compelled to ask: why? Why would this not be evidence simply of a deformed, physically stunted prehistoric woman? I mean, if you look around, I am sure you have seen or are aware of people like these, such as dwarves used in circuses.
Why would she be a different species?

Very interesting! I think there is a great deal more mysteries yet to be found. One of my favorites is whether the Sphinx is water damaged or not. If water did damage the Sphinx then all of Egyptian history must be rewritten.

In an astonishing discovery that could rewrite the history of human evolution, ... Heeheehee.
More hype from the public school crowd.

Other similar remains to that female were also found in the cave, ruling out the possibility that the female was a single abnormal individual. The hipbones are different than Homo sapiens, indicating that it may have walked like Australopithicus (i.e., the "Lucy" of Olduvai Gorge and Leakey fame). However, there were many similarities to Homo sapiens, such as tool-making, skull morphology, and dentition. It doesn't take too much variation in physical and cultural characteristics to claim a new species. Claiming that Flores Man is a new genus altogether (which it appears is in discussion) is another story...
