The Seven Noahide Laws

I'm not exactly sure what to make of the Noahide laws, but I find the first law - Idolatry is forbidden - very interesting.

"Since we are to worship G-d and G-d alone, there are no legitimate partners with G-d or intermediaries [Jesus?]" between us and Him. Our souls, which are spiritual in nature and therefore closer to G-d than our bodies, are capable of connecting directly with Him, but can only do so if we recognize and worship G-d alone as our life source. Idolatry therefore deprives people of their ability to relate to G-d in a pure, unimpeded way."

Why did Bush Sr. enact Public law 102-14 and why didn't Abe Foxman and the ADL scream about "Separation of Church and State?"

But, like I previously stated, I don't really know much about the Noahide laws. Perhaps you could shed some light on the beast.

I am unwavering in my support of our friends, Israel. However, I am equally skeptical of any law designating anti-anything as an illegal activity. We have laws regarding mistreatment of people in this country. We also have treaties and state department laws regarding human rights and mistreatment of anyone due to their religious beliefs. I've not read the legislation, but on the surface I would not favor it because it calls out a particular group.

Prohibition of Blasphemy [law #2]

"This commandment prohibits the use of G-d's name for cursing. One is neither to curse G-d nor to use His name to curse the Creation. The reason for this is obvious: G-d is the Creator of the universe, and therefore loves all of His Creation. We should be thankful to G-d for His providence rather than profane it, especially in His name. We owe Him our utmost awe and love. After all, G-d shows us incredible patience when we do wrong—should we not have the same patience with G-d when things do not seem to be going our way?"

Now, if there are to be no intermediaries between us and G-d (as defined in Law #1) then Jesus would be null and void. That being, who is the G-d being referenced in Law #2 and isn't mispelling God a form a blasphemy itself?

Well, then I think you delve into a tricky area.

Spraying swastikas is a hate crime. I would like to point out again that just because someone doesn't agree with U.S.-Israeli realtions/policy doesn't make them anti-Semitic. If the person didn't agree with the policy and sprayed swastikas, then its a hate crime.

Swastikas on Bush/Cheney signs? Well, that is pretty stupid. There is no one on this earth who can equate Nazism to Bush. Give me a break!

Motivation is the key word here. A sicko who kills people to get some sort of wierd satisfaction has a different motive than a woman or man who kills because someone is going to kill them (self defense).

My point about what I said earlier is that I don't believe that ANY group should have a whole law/bill passed by our government being singled out for what I see is extra protection.

Equal justice under the law is what it is supposed to be about, but we know that isn't the case. Some people believe there are reasons to support Israel, and for some there are reasons we should start distancing ourselves from Israel that have nothing to do with terrorist threats.

Whatever the case (muslim, jewish, etc.) I would like to know where the ACLU is preventing such a bill from being passed.

They better get ready to start an anti-Christian bill, which by the way Christianity is under horrendous attack especially recently.

If you walk into a predominantly jewish or muslim neighborhood carring a large Crucifix, I bet the look you
would get would send you up in smoke.

Tolerance...this is something muslims don't have. It is not
in their nature to be tolerant of ANYONE who isn't muslim.

Having said that, and the fact that this is a Judeo-Christian founded country, I cannot see why muslims are here except to disrupt, and they are doing a lot.

Also, throw the U.N. out of this country. What a waste of space.

I really do welcome anyone elses opinoin.

......Blasphemy is forbidden.....therefore,....the U.N. is forbidden!

Under Noahide law, it would seem that the U.N. would fall into the idolatry category and would be forbidden. However, I can't help but notice that Bush Sr. enacted Public Law 102-14 which states:

"Whereas these ethical values and principles have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they were known as the Seven Noahide Laws"

Clearly Bush Sr. is in full support of the Noahide Laws, yet an excerpt from his "New World Order" speech in 1991 shows that he idolizes the U.N.:
"Now, we can see a new world coming into view. A world in which there is the very real prospect of a new world order. In the words of Winston Churchill, a "world order" in which "the principles of justice and fair play ... protect the weak against the strong ..." A world where the United Nations, freed from cold war stalemate, is poised to fulfil the historic vision of its founders. A world in which freedom and respect for human rights find a home among all nations."

How can a man hold two contradictory ideas in his head,at the same time, and believe both of them?

......you would have to ask each individual male/female rabbi group.....they're all different.

When is a Jewish 'person' a Jewish 'person'...?

When is a Goy-ish 'person' a Goy-ish 'person'...?

Yes it does make sense. Remember towards the end of the book when the animals were spying on the Pig's dinner party and realized that they'd been had?

Orwell sure had an imagination. ;o)
