I live in Montana and its wonderful, but we visited Texas and it was incredible. In February I was in short sleeved shirt in San Antonio- and everyone there was very friendly to us. So either way, you're a winner. P.S. The people at the Texas airport were very kind to me when I teared up when my husband said it was time to leave.

I live in Texas, but would not recommend the Dallas/Ft. Worth, or Houston area. Texas is 50% anglo and 50% minority now. The mid city areas are a mess of traffic, theft, and high prices.

Texas, except for liberals, embedded like ticks in Austin, has always been a Republican strong hold, but with the newly released census data, Texas is going the way of California.

I wish you well in your search. Often, I've thought of moving into a Red Zone myself. Then it occurred to me. If politics are the ONLY thing instigating a move, it's probably better to stay and bring about change as best one can. I mean, if we give up ground, WE GIVE UP GROUND!

I'm appalled by Austin's liberal politics and its loopier citizens. They clearly have sway and probably will for a long time. But I wouldn't move unless I could find or make a better job for myself.

If things are ever gonna change around here, leaving won't be the catalyst. So they gotta beat my vote, at least, to get their feel-good agendas passed.

You can't go wrong in West Texas. Amarillo to be specific. Great Christian culture and atmosphere. Not as hot as the rest of Texas at 3500 ft. elevation. Population is about 250,000 to 300,000 when you include immediate surrounding areas. Lots of horizon:)

I'd go with Texas, Alabama, Mississippi or South Carolina if I were you.

Stay away from Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont (Leahy-land).


I'd like a place where its cold with lots of snow, lots of mountains and forests, few people, all conservatives and a pro-gun, pro-hunting atmosphere.

Georgia is very conservative. We have our problems with liberals in the form of the AJC and Jimmy Carter but by far the majority is conservative.

Not sure if this has been mentioned......but a relative moved out of Michigan for the very same reasons. He moved to Abbeville, SC where there's lots of Christian conservatives & sunshine. Been there for a few years and happy as a clam.

Jacksonville, FL is the place to be. It is also the number one requested duty station by the U.S. Navy and it's Bush country.
