Oh yeah -- that about made me want to hurl. I told my husband, they need him alright -- for target practice!
History shows its the first one that matters. This one on foriegn policy is THE one that counted , it's THE issue ! It was a bor eanyway so #2 wount be as watched. VP debates are traditionally waste of air time and matter not .
I figured it was a setup from the moment Lehrer started lecturing people about how they could behave, Then when he said that he was the one who set the terms of the debate of selected the questions, there was no doubt. Bush's people should have demaded a more balanced format.
Surprises? I didn't here anything about that.
Just hope it isn't California is falling into the sea or Mount St. Helens is going to bury Washington.
The worst part for Bush was around the middle of the debate when he seemed like he was just getting exasperated. I can sympathize with him - I wanted to punch that arrogant punk Kerry.
Bush did score a pretty good direct hit or two - one point where he made me laugh out loud was where he belittled Kerry's boast that he would "build a coalition and bring our allies to help us in Iraq," by saying "what are you going to say to the allies, 'come join us for a grand diversion in Iraq?'"
*hits you with broom*
SCAT!
stop saying we are doomed man.
Lisa,
I smell a troll!! FR member since 9/10/04 Bring on the ZOT with extreme prejudice.
Bush has been the president for 4 years, of couse the questions will be slanted towards his policies and actions.Questions were, for the most part, fair I though ..Really bummed out here..
Yes but those that would be swayed by the debates may now vote for Kerry which is not good.
It was a draw. Bush never comes across as well speaking as Kerry. Kerry's gave us a lot of talking points to be used against him. Think about some of the things that came out of his mouth such as "I spoke wrong when I talked about the war", "yes I thought Saddam was a threat". Does anyone really want to follow a man who speaks badly when talking about the war? Statements such as that do not show leadership.
I'm not convinced that anyone who votes for Kerry ever had any thought of voting for Bush. The choice is so clear.
LOL No nothing like that. I heard it on Fox and Friends this morning and I think there was a post about it today.
sorry but I was totally disappointed in tonights debate .Bush let him get away with a lot of real crap . Some of Kerrys comments were begging for come backs that would have slammed him .Maybe I lost faith in the general TV watching public and it's ability to see though the BS .
I don't agree with that. The key to being a good speaker is to connect with the people you're speaking to. Kerry doesn't connect with anybody but limousine liberals ....if you can call that connecting. Both candidates realize that the only people they are likely to win in the debates are the ones who haven't been paying attention before. Which one do you think average Joe working guy is going feel most connected with. Who do you think the average mom is going to trust to protect her children?
"So please, don't say Bush blew it and add to the negativity that us young kids have to wade through."
Hey! We're all (mostly) on the same side here. It's not really "negativity" as much as our disappointment that W does not reach out and say just the right thing to put that oompa loompa in his place.
Perhaps he didn't "blow" it; it's just that we wish he could have destroyed Forbes the way we know he deserves to be destroyed. That's all.
"I may not have said everything I wanted to just right..."
You're doing great! An excellent post, and very well written. Mark your calendar for election day... and keep posting!
Although I do take your point....however, anyone that would follow the above protocol would not be very educated on politics...
Yes, you Dems are doomed. Tell you buddies over at DU we said hello.
I was only able to hear the last 20 minutes of the debate live, but there was a question (late in the debate) that Kerry was answering almost before Leher had completed. I said to the radio, "He knows the question before it was asked."
Thanks for the confirmation of my feelings ...for whatever that's worth.
heh i joined the DU one time in order to be a troll over there, but then i took a look around the pages and thought "why bother". The DUmmies prove their own stupidity efficiently without me having to do any work.
Even Dan Rather would have been more unbiased than Lehrer was. And we all know Rather is a Dem hack.
