I think he has a problem with biting pillows as well.
John Kerry, also in this position has compounded it by his continual flip-flopping.
Morris is ignoring the fact that the ELECTORATE is driving the discussion towards the war on terror (and Iraq).
Dear Dickie........Kerry chose to focus on Viet Nam or hadn't you noticed. So from the gitgo your premise is flawed.
Kerry is unelectable in these times given all the VN baggage and a strongly anti-defense Senate career. The bigger issue is why the Dem primary process nominated him, not why he ran such a bad campaign. Nobody could have put a nice shine on this piece of excrement.
Bush was actually behind the curve on Kerry's flip flop nature. The subject was daily fodder long before the Bush campaign began running ads about it.
Because it was their (wrong) opinion that all Kerry would have to do was to anounce (over and over and over again) "I served in Vietnam!" and the public would fall into his arms.
Begin with Iraq? Actually it's only his latest mistake, and he made at least a dozen earlier.
His biggest mistake was to think he could get away with his ego trip on Vietnam. He lied to his Democrat supporters and he probably lied to himself. Now all the dirt is coming out.
But the Democrats should have seen it coming. They know what kind of guy he is. A congenital liar, and not a good liar like clinton.
BTTT
The Democratic Party has not had a new idea since Roosevelt died. The parts of the New Deal that FDR didn't finish, Johnson put in. The only piece they have left is what they call "health care," and there is a very good reason that they have not been able to get it done in 60 years. Most Americans are astute enough to know that what the Democrats propose on health care amounts to an HMO run by the Department of Motor Vehicles. No matter how much people grouse about health care, they know that what the Democrats want to do is worse. But the Democrats don't have any other ideas. So when someone like Morris or anyone comes along and suggests focusing on domestic issues, the first thing that pops into a Democrat's head is "health care." Clinton tried that, and the Democrats' reward was to lose their majority in the House for the first time in 40 years. At the rate the Democrats are going, they won't get it back for another 40 years. There really is no salvation for Democrats in a focus on domestic issues. Despite the press talking the economy down, the unemployment rate is lower now than it has been for most of my adult life. It's lower than it was in 1996, when Clinton won re-election. There's nothing there for the Democrats to grab on to. Gun control? They've tried that, too. That works real well among the people who are going to vote Democrat anyway. But it drives away people who might have otherwise. Abortion? Same thing... it only plays to the base; it alienates everyone else. Gay and lesbian rights? Now there's a loser if there ever was one. The truth is, the Democrats are hosed. Americans do not want socialism, and we already have virtually all the leftist programs leading up to it. The only playing space to the left of them involves government ownership of the means of production, whether in health care, some other field, or everywhere. But Americans do not want that. Worse for the Democrats, as the unions have declined in importance, trial lawyers have taken their place as the big funders of the Democratic Party. And trial lawyers are the next group on the public's agenda to get The Hammer of Thor. People understand, better than the news media think, that guys like John Edwards are the reason that "health care" costs as much as it does. Trial lawyers siphon off some $250 billion every year. They've become a cancer. Which means that the Democratic Party has become the Party of Cancer. When the trial lawyers get whacked and they will the Democrats will go right down the tubes with them. They will shrink down to being the Party of Hollywood, which is not how they are going to win elections. We are watching the end of the Democratic Party in the United States. They sold the public as much of the New Deal as the public wants. Now they are done. There is no more use for them. |
Right. Dean supporters in Iowa gave him a pair of flip-flops way back when.
Welcome back, Nick. Been on a long vacation?
We can only hope, but Morris' record ain't that hot.
The dummycrats had no choice but to go with Kerry. He was the only one of the slugs in the primary that had a chance of being "electable" ... and that was because he was a veteran running in a time of war. But they were so desperate for a winner that they either didn't bother to vet his senate record or they are so insulated from reality that they actually believed that most Americans would support a candidate who was an anti-war protester.
The biggest story of the 2004 campaign was how the democrats grossly underestimated the American people ... again.
Kerry cannot break with a president in his conduct of a war without being seen as negative to the men and women who are waging it..."
These points NEVER stopped him before, and it was much more than "implicit" criticism. This is true to his type. Since Vietnam, in spite of his flip-flops and "nuances" he was never anything else than and Anti-war or anti-defense program politician.
"We are watching the end of the Democratic Party in the United States. They sold the public as much of the New Deal as the public wants. Now they are done. There is no more use for them."
That's good enough to steal!
