Joe Lockhart denied any connection between the presidential campaign and the papers. Lockhart, the second Kerry ally to confirm contact with retired Texas National Guard officer Bill Burkett, said he made the call at the suggestion of CBS producer Mary Mapes.
Umm, Ok. So if I understand this "logic", CBS (Mapes) calls the Kerry campaign (Lockhart) asking them to see if Burkett has any sludge to smear the President with. But there's no "connection" between the Kerry campaign and the forged memos.
What kind of bizzaro thinking is that?
Lockhart's only been on the Kerry team for a few weeks, and he already doesn't recall conversations?
He could have issued a flat-out denial that it never came up. Furthermore, the reporter paraphrased the comment rather than quoting directly.

Lockhart is telling us that it depends on "what is...is." He didn't have "coordination with that liar..." Seems as if we've been down this path before.
This is grounds for the White House to pull the press credentials of anyone working for CBS News. These people aren't reporters, they are literally Democratic Party operatives.
Am I missing something here? Didn't the Dems use the forgeries in political ads that started running within a day or days of the 60 Minutes broadcast? In fact, aren't they still running them?
It does take a little time to edit a political spot and get it distributed out to all the stations for broadcast. I wonder what the normal turnaround time is for this and what was actually achieved by the Dems. There could be a smoking gun here if anyone has some hard data.

This is being let out as "anti-climactic" when they know that a Kerry primary agent in league with CBS and Burkett is the proof necessary to prove coordination.
This is collusion between a party and a network in an effort to damage a candidate!

I don't believe this at all. Burkett would never have gotten through to Rather if not for Kerry's people pulling his ear.
