We almost lost our daughter to Crohn's this last spring. She is now in full remission, so for her 16th birthday we took her to San Diego. Yesterday we went on a harbor dinner cruise. Today and tomorrow it's Sea World.

My best friend's son (age 12) was recently diagnosed with Crohn's. Bookmarking for later printing.
Great to hear that about your daughter!

I know there are many probiotics out there; however, there are many with no viable bacteria in them at all, despite their claims.
I would encourage you to visit ConsumerLab.com for independent tests on all forms of supplements.

Any idea if these are acid fast mycobacteria?

Crohn's is what caused the death of our younger daughter in January. Sure hope this is true so other families will not have to go through what we did. It is a devastating disease.

We lost our daughter on 1/15/04 to complications of this disease. She was in so much pain over the last 6 months of her life. Glad to hear that your daughter is ok.

When I was in A School in Indy, a shipmate complained about stomach cramps for a few days and then went on leave to visit her grandma. She got real sick down in GA and came back a week late to Ft. Ben. She was diagnosed with Crohn's and was processed out of the service after that. I don't recall anyone else at the Army post getting sick so it's really weird to hear the results of this study.

I found this at PubMed using Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis AND stains. They use an acid fast stain when they look for TB.

I remember when I think an Australian Doc linked stomach ulcers to a bacteria. He was flippantly dismissed until he was proven right.
It really bugs me that those who dedicate their lives to protecting lives can be so narrow minded.

That's HPV and cervical cancer, I think.
Spread the word: Pap smears are only needed because of the Sexually Transmitted disease, a few strains of Human Papilloma Virus that causes 99.7% of cervical cancer.
Virgins who marry virgins and who remain in a *mutually monogamous* relationship do not need PAP smears except every 3 years or so - to find that 0.3% of other cervical cancers.
Of course, the problem is how to be absolutely sure of the "mutually monogamous" part. (Great line from a movie:" The problem with adultery is that you have to lie to your wife.")

And here all these years I thought grain products caused IBS and Crohn's disease to certain people. Oh well, I don't drink milk and eat very little grain based food; I'm 76 and haven't had even a cold for 6 years and feel fine. I think I will continue to avoid milk and grains.
