OERs are very serious documents. To give an officer a bad review or even a so-so rating, you'd be doing it with the realization that you were probably severely limiting - or ending - his career. No one I know does that lightly. On the other hand, if it's warranted, you can't avoid it either.

Hello,
Great to talk to you! You know, I found FR via Drudge, during the Monica time frame. At that point, I was convinced that I (and only I) could break the Internet. So I read. And I got to know and care for so many of you. I will bet that there are many thousands of people, if not more, that read, laugh, cry and keep up to date on this site that never say a word. And that's OK.
Glad to be here, MOgirl

Dan Rather appeared as the main speaker at a $20,000 fund-raiser for the Travis County Democratic Party in Austin, Texas on March 21, 2001. When he was confronted with the story, Rather claimed he hadnt realized beforehand that the event was a fund-raiser. One of the events hosts was Robin Rather, the anchors daughter and a Texas environmentalist and marketing executive who reportedly was eyeing a run for mayor of Austin.

Pretty women alway's live in someone elses town. Once you move there they all seem to vanish from view within six months. Odd phenomenon I must admit.

We know why the documents were sent to CBS.
But why and when were they also sent to USA Today?
To: JazzX; Travis McGee
To: Travis McGee Burkett used her recollections for selected "factoids" and typed up the forged memos on his home PC.
As a former officer Burkett could have done much better than these fakes. He would not have made them up out of whole cloth, but would have used orders he had seen about other matters as a template. What continues to strike me about these documents is how bad they are. I've prosecuted blue collar defendants who turned out letter perfect proof of automobile insurance certificates on their home pc. The were caught only because they actually got in an accident and someone called the (legitimate) 1-800 number on the certificate and found out that they were not insured. These fakes are about 1/2 a notch above the notes Mr. Kotter used to get signed "Epstien's Mother."
Looks like I blew this one and Travis called it.

Don't FAXes usually have the date and time faxed across the top of them as well as the phone number they are from?
Still could be from a DNC goon in Texas,,,,

In a related development, the Kinko's on Danville Street in Abilene was suddenly besieged by several hundred sleepy men in pajamas, carrying cell phones and trying to rent computers. The parking lot was similarly gridlocked by dozens of Lincoln Navigators and Cadillac Escalades with Bush-Cheney 2004 bumper stickers on the rear. Developing...

Oooh yeah, wonder if that Abilene Kinko's has one of those in-store surveillance cams... wonder how good the clerks' memories are... wonder if the guy paid by credit card... wonder if anybody there saw him pull up or leave in his car... wonder if anybody was with him... wonder who at CBS these docs were att'd to...

But computers leave electronic trails. IPs get logged. Someone fearful of getting caught might not have the technical confidence to know whether faxed data are encoded with source ID information.
It's just like perfering to use a payphone or public phone then one at a residence or location where you can be placed.
Pay phones have call tapes too. All calls, all calls recorded somewhere.. even on debit cards, phone cards.. all calls..... have a trail.

Here's what I think CBS's spin is going to be:
Burkitt is their source for the docs, and Burkitt rescued Bush files that he saw being shredded in 1997. Never mind that for seven years, he never produced anything to back up his source; he's going to be the fall guy here.

Hey, speak more repectfully of Wittaker Chambers: he repented of his Communism (even thought he believed he was joining the loosing side), and exposed Alger Hiss (whom we know--gloat, gloat--thanks to the KGB archives being opened with our victory in the Cold War, really was a Communist spy not the innocent victim the left wanted to paint him for decades afterward).

LOL, I remember that post, too! Some of the funniest stuff I've ever read has come from FR. Conservatives definitely have more fun.

No.. the information had to be programmed into the fax machine.. it will have a time/date stamp even if it's wrong.... 00/00/00 date 00:00:00 time..
To: Semper911
I saw one of the docs I download (PDF) had the CBS fax info across the very top...I can't find it again now. It had a date/time. Did anybody else see this? FWIW - I had printed them out from the pdf's the other day:
This line appears at the top of each of the 4 Pages:
09/07/2004 09:51 12129751998 CBS NEWS PAGE 01
09/07/2004 09:51 12129751998 CBS NEWS PAGE 02
09/07/2004 09:51 12129751998 CBS NEWS PAGE 03
09/07/2004 09:51 12129751998 CBS NEWS PAGE 04
But these look like outgoing from CBS, not incoming (i.e. from Kinkos).
