Some lucky freeper needs to walk into that Kinko's late tonight with a picture of Bill Burkett and ask the college kids behind the desk if anyone recognizes him.The hunt is on for a picture of Bill Burkett.

(Memos are phoney and even Dan Rather knows now.)
If he did use a computer, it'd be EASY to find out. Someone could go tonight and have a reasonable chance of finding out. We know the date the fax was sent from Kinko's because it's on the document. I used one of the Kinko's computers in North Carolina before. I had to show my ID and sign a log book. There were tons of names in the book from previous days. You'd just have to flip back to the day and approximate time on the fax and who knows what you'll find. Road trip anyone?

Get the phone records from the fax machines.,/i> Fax machines these days haev prodigious memories. The docs might still be buffered in the sending machine.

For this reason, this mythical header looks like a setup, most likely to blame Birkett and cover up the DNC as a source. CBS could have faxed a copy from Kinko's at the time to cover their tracks in the event their scam blew up. That's what I think, too. Especially since Strong, who defended Dan Rather's story on Friday, is revealing this tidbit.

What is the difference? (honest question)

I think they used Burkette to put some distance between themselves and the fraud. Probably one of the main actors put Burkett up to it.
The fact that the docs were so easily detected as a forgery and that cBS held back two docs they knew wouldn't pass the smell test, Dan Rather likely knew the game from the get go.

Drudge: RATHER NOW HAS DOUBTS!!!!!
I think CBS is driving this tonight. This is their out. Let it be known via Wash Post that Burnett is the man, then Dan comes out and says he has doubts. Burnett takes the heat... meanwhile, the DNC, who originally put Rather onto the story slinks away.

in a morbid way, i kinda miss bill clinton for all the fun he brought to Freepland.
sick and wrong, I know, but a lotta fun.
i turned my grandmother on to this site, she has since passed.
one night she called to check up on me in college and she was laughing about that "Free Public webpage" i bookmarked for her
She read about a freep in DC where they chanted something like,
"MR. President, put down the cigar, step away from the intern, and come out with your pants up"
cracked her up. whoever did that one, thanks.
My granny laughed and laughed

"If the documents are not what we were led to believe, I'd like to break that story," Rather said in an interview last night. "Any time I'm wrong, I want to be right out front and say, 'Folks, this is what went wrong and how it went wrong.' "

forget Burkett, he may have had the account there but someone else did the actual faxing.
If he had an account then I would assume all he had to do was provide the account number to pay.
Account number would backed up by some credit card I would assume.
This will go no further unless a court order opens the records of the credit card.

Yep, not sleeping much describes most of us, LOL! We wear pajamas but never go to bed. Welcome!

Here's another theory.
Mary Mapes was reported as going to Burkett to talk with him as part of this story right? What if on the way back to Abilene she decided to fabricate these memos? She stops at a kinkos, fabricates these things and then sends them on to Dan?
That would explain why there are some obvious errors about TANG stuff which you would think Burkett would not make?

Rats all over, and they are cornered. The Old Media has competition. Relentless competition. Very good!
