Secondly, Freepers are one of the most intelligent, educated, observant and verbally equipped people I've ever had the pleasure to associate with. If they weren't, I wouldn't be here.

There are something like 20,000 members of this site. We have people of all ages, all walks of life, who do all sorts of different jobs. How hard is it that some of these thousands and thousands of people know something about: guns, typsets, law, computers, car mechanics, nuclear physics, farming soybeans, fixing workboots, logging and forestry, chemistry, or any other of thousands of jobs?

This is something that does make FreeRepublic excellent, and rather unique. We have people here that make $20,000 per year and $200,000. And I remember reading FR on the day that Airbus crashed in Queens: we had pilots and airplane designers here saying that the crash was probably not terrorism just minutes after the crash. If there's an incident at a Memphis high school, we probably have a poster who went to that school. If there's a Danish newspaper article of interest, we'll have a few people ready to translate. It makes reading this site excellent. Someone can post nonsense, but it'll be rebuffed almost instantly.

First (leaving aside how suspiciously well Buckhead puts sentences together for a righty blogger), there’s the extraordinary, yeah, boggling, knowledge of typewriting arcana. More remarkable still are the circumstances under which discernment occurred. Namely, viewing the document on a TV screen from a presumed distance of six to a dozen feet. Folks who make their living at this sort of thing rely on magnifying glasses, if not microscopes.

Centurion, I agree with your response to the above pathetic attempt by Anson to obfuscate reality; it was obvious just from viewing the TV screen shot that the documents were created on a modern-day word processor, not an early-1970s typewriter. You didn't need to spend hours poring over the actual documents with a microscope to figure that out. (Perhaps Anson is simply too old to realize that the members of a younger generation can indeed tell the difference merely by eyeballing it.)

However, I have two points of my own:

1) Weren't the PDFs of these documents already on the CBS News web site by the time Buckhead posted, making Anson's allegation false on its face?

2) Anson's point is utterly moot, because the documents now have been examined by the "folks who make their living at this sort of thing," and they agree with Buckhead, not Anson!

1. CBS's own document folks ADVISED THEM NOT TO GO WITH THE STORY LAST TUESDAY. CBS WAS WARNED.

2. That CBS is the one who keeps changing their position on the matter.

3. Several posters cited on much of the links here and on the blogs do not like President Bush and presumably conservative ideology, but find CBS offensive because these posters support truth. These folks are mad at CBS (as hell and are not taking it anymore :) ), as well as all freedom loving Americans should be.

Who is Buckhead? Buckhead is US and We are Buckhead.
