"We now have a government of aristocrats that are no different than old King George."

Their arrogance is sickening, isn't it?! With the budget outta control, Congress shouldda insisted that they delay pay raises until they could pare back spending significantly!! There's no sense of urgency towards balancing the budget...is this all we can expect from a GOP Congress?!

Sickening...MUD

I haven't had a pay raise in 9 years but my taxes and cost of living keep going up.

Sounds like it might be time to clean house AGAIN!

Damn these people.

Well as the neo-cons love to tell us, the age of small government is over...so why should not the ruling elite of the government improve their lots at the expense of others? Criticizing your betters is also unacceptable, and that is a party neutral statement...since raises have come when both parties controlled the government.

My point was 6 consecutive pay raises while our economy was going down, bottomed and starting a slow tortuous upswing is ridiculous regardless of party affiliation. Congress gets a free ride on the backs of the taxpayers. Plus, the fact that thousands of jobs have been shifted overseas--a fact that we freepers (or some of us) have been griping about, to countries without reciprocity. What jobs are created in the US have been low paying, usually but not exclusively in the food sector. I still maintain that 6 straight pay raises is out of line.
