This pretty much nails the final nail into Rather's coffin.

The liberals lack of understanding about HOW the Guard, Reserves and the military, in general, works WILL bury them.

Ouch. This could be the death knell for Rather. If Staudt starts talking and says "Bush rules". Game over.

This was exposed yesterday on FR and Foxnews mentioned today few times. I am glad that a national newspaper is picking up the story.

""A CBS staffer stood by the story, suggesting that Col. Staudt could have continued to exert influence over Guard officials. But a former high-ranking Guard official disputed that, saying retirement would have left Col. Staudt powerless over remaining officials."
But...but...but...It COULD be right...couldn't it?
Oh pleeze...these people will be producing the farm report in Kansas next week at this time...CBS will just mail them their clothes..

If I was Rather, I'd simply retire. It'd be the way to salvage my honor, and an illustrious career. [Not that libs have any idea of the concept.]

At some point it will probably be more productive to start listing what is true about the documents instead of what's false. It will be a much shorter list!
I am just flabbergasted that CBS will stand behind this garbage!

That thought occurred to me too. The Clinton squad is shrewd and experienced in deception. If they wanted to help Kerry, instead of hurt him, they would have come up with something much better than this.
