You got to come into port sometime, but it sounds like you have your bases covered. I just know a Mossberg pumpmaster will get you thrown under the jail in certain locales, so an M-203....well, shudder the thought. There was an excellent thread a year or more back regarding weapons and tactics as it pertains to piracy on the high seas, and freeper Travis McGee had some excellent insights on the subject. Depends on the round, I'm thinking.

There are more different 40mm grenade rounds than I can easily list off the top of my head.

I think getting one to detonate on water would be possible. For that sort of work, the rebounding rounds that skip before they go boom might be the ticket.

Should the ban expire, those would be legal for peons, including those from the past.

Would the existing "For Law Enforcement Only" magazines be legal for pæons to possess despite the markings, or would it be necessary to get units manufactured without such markings?

I prefer a DA/SA setup that has a heavy first shot pull, and light pull for later shots.

The problem with that arrangement is that unless one deliberately 'does something' to the gun after shooting some (but not all) rounds, the firearm will remain in 'hair-trigger' mode.

One of the brilliant things about the Glock design is that the trigger may be released partially between follow-on shots, allowing them to be fired with a shorter trigger pull, but releasing the trigger fully returns the pistol to the normal degree of readiness.

Yes. Legal. There would be no law under which to prosecute you. Violating a law is punishable. Violating markings is not.
