"What you're missing is the part where we need two FAMS to say what happened when one will do..."
Umm, no, what I'm missing is why the one FAM commenting can't use clear and unambiguous language, or better yet get a Public Information Officer to respond to the Press. Something along the line of, "All FAM's on board the flight observed the activity and verified that the group of individuals in question represented no threat whatsoever to the aircraft during the entire duration of the flight."
When an FAM uses language like "my main partner," he unnecessarily implies that there where more than two on board, which would indicate that there was something unusual going on before the flight was boarded. I know we're all supposed to be keeping the Bad Guys in the dark about tactics and procedures, but they should either say "no comment" or have an officially authorized statement.
I work in Public Safety, and in my Department, if an officer involved in an incident doesn't refer all press inquiries to the PIO, he or she gets to have a nice chat with the Chief to do some 'splainin.
I am CONVINCED that Homeland Security is doing their best to protect us with one and a half hands tied behind their back. Geeeez, I'm sorry I touched a nerve...

"I'm not a "blame-The-Man-first" guy..."
You and me both. I blame Bush first, and think of what he's to blame for later.
For those of you as humor challenged as a Michael Moore audience, the Bush reference above was a joke. I am a Big Time W supporter, and I would vote for him even if the lives of thousands of Americans didn't depend on it. (Once football season starts, I'll be blaming the Ref's first!)

A newly released inspector general report backs eyewitness accounts of suspicious behavior by 13 Middle Eastern men on a Northwest Airlines flight in 2004 and reveals several missteps by government officials, including failure to file an incident report until a month after the matter became public. According to the Homeland Security report, the "suspicious passengers," 12 Syrians and their Lebanese-born promoter, were traveling on Flight 327 from Detroit to Los Angeles on expired visas. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services extended the visas one week after the June 29, 2004, incident...
