Yea, my friend had that. We used to play summer/winter olympics, karateka, etc.. Those olympics games were so lame, I think he broke a joystick every week playing that.

"Perhaps FR needs a pc gaming group set up. It might be fun to play Doom, UT, CS, ect together."

How do we start something like that?

I've played through (I think) Chapter 6 - the one where the hero and his small squad have to run around a town and kill zombies before the dark wizard guy resurrects them.

Ever try any of the City-Building Series? There's Caesar if you like Greco-Roman, Zeus/Poseidon for a mythological kinda thing, Pharaoh/Cleopatra for the ancient Egyptians, Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom for the Chinese . . . very cool series.

Good news, gamers: It's done.

Well, that didn't take long. What, like 10 years?

Memories...loved the first Castle Wolfenstein, then Doom came out...it was like going from BW to color TV, you knew the next revolution was upon you. But that was back in the day when my first system was:

286-16 MHz
1 meg o' RAM
80 meg HD - which I had to get bec my friend had a 40 mg'er and I had to beat that
Cirrus Logic video card and PC speaker sound!

Back in the days before CD-ROMs came out. To play Doom though I had to upgrade to a 386 DX40 with 4 megs of RAM, then to a 486 DX266 with 8 megs. Those were the days.

But then, I thought it was the bomb playing Gauntlet, blackjack, and Empire on IBM PC/AT's with 640k ram, no hard drives running off 5.25" floppies.

Gauntlet was dope! It had digital sound fx going via the pc speaker :> And the whole game was like 400k or something.

No...I almost bought Caesar once. These days I just play Age of Empires on my PocketPC - it works pretty well, surprisingly. The programmers did a good job of downsizing it for the PocketPC 2002/2003 OS.

Wow lots of gamers here!

I'm looking forward to the new version of "Pirates!" this fall. I had a blast with the original on the C64.

LOL
My Grandfather has one of those.

My cousin and I used to play Summer Olympics. It was the only game he would win. All the others I would RULE!
Of course he's now a doctor at John's Hopkins BUT I RULE THE GAMEWORLD!

PS If the aliens from beyond the moon attack earth, you're all welcome at my house. They're afraid of me.

Don't worry tho, it's been so long since I've been on a date that I won't have the slightest idea what to do with your daughters.

Yeah, it's a keeper. When I first got the game it was hard to put down. I played so long, I could stop a bullet with either thumb. Serious game thumbs.

I've never played that game (I've never been much for RP games) but I have had other games pulling at me as I walk through my office past my computer.

And, when I'm doing some work or balancing the checkbook on the computer, the little voice will say, "C'mon.....just for a little while.....you can play for 5 minutes....really...this time you will be able to stop after a short while......."

I can stop anytime I want. Really. Anytime.

In any case, what would you rather spend $4k on?

My children's education.

Well, if you have a choice to make and its between getting a HDTV set or paying for your kids education, then yea, no one is arguing about that. But if you had extra $4k to spend on yourself, what would you get?

I remember in the early 1990's when my father brought home "Castle Wolfenstein." He'd picked it up for next to nothing. I remember being amazed - 1st person 3D with moving perspective! Some of my friends who played it for the first time got a bit nauseated, because no one had ever played with a moving screen before.

More ROI, I'm not a thing driven individual.

So your problem is not with HDTV per se, but with spending money? Why didn't you just say so in the first place?

That would be the non-expansion "Reign of Chaos." I played that campaign, but the beauty in WCIII is in online gameplay. I didn't bother with the expansion ("The Frozen Throne") campaign.

But I don't even play the RTS anymore...the expansion added so many new characters and heroes, it made me feel cheated for investing so much time in learning how to be good at the old version.

However, twice weekly I play on Battlenet with my friends...hero boards, hero siege, etc. They are excellent games with lower investment in time.
