I suspect S. Korea is a lot like Spain, except worse. North Korea will see the weakness and take advantage.

If that does come to pass, I hope that patriotic S. Koreans take the opportunity to do appropriately deal with their enemies to the north, as well as the traitors in their own midst.

I'm beginning to think that also....I don't think they have any intention of letting any hostage go. That is what terrorists do...they terrorize. I think most hostages are killed right after the video is made.

Prayers for Mr. Kim and his family.

For those advocating beheading those we have in custody as retaliation for this act, let me remind you that we are not the savages in this war. Something certainly needs to be done to stop this and similar acts of horror. I suggest reengaging the war in Fallujah - the base of terror in Iraq.

We need to pray the 10 remaining hostages get a lot of courage, and are able to talk among themselves...and go down fighting...like those on aircraft in Pennsylvania. If there are not enough guards they just might be able to pull it off. At least its better than the alternative.

I do hope the body gets recovered quicker than the last one. Bad enough to hear your friend/loved one was beheaded. Even worse to hear they can't locate the body.

Just wait until it happens here -- wait until someone gets plucked off the street and a video ends up on the net... It doesn't take much to kidnap and cut someone's head off with a steak knife... I shudder...

One of these times, these guys are going to pi$$ off the wrong people.

I would like to have thought America would have fallen into the "wrong people" catagory. After listening to the response (or lack of such) to the beheading of Americans, I fear most of this country doesn't.

South Korean Hostage Beheaded in Iraq - Al Jazeera
Tue Jun 22, 2004 12:56 PM ET

DUBAI (Reuters) - An Iraqi group has carried out its threat to behead a South Korean hostage, Al Jazeera television said Tuesday.

It gave no more details. Militants kidnapped 33-year-old Kim Sun-il on June 17 and had threatened Monday to kill him within 24 hours.

I swear I heard on the news a couple of hours ago that there were negotiations going on and things were looking as if they would be resolved. What changed?

What likely 'changed' is this:

After filming the video, they beheaded the Korean, took some pictures, and disposed of the body. Then, they moved safehouses and distanced themselves from the crime, while other agents made contact with the media, and 'negotiated' as a diversion.

Now that enough time has elapses, and the killers are long gone, they can drop the charade about 'extended deadlines' and admit that the hostage is dead.

They may be murderous thugs, but they're not stupid.
