I don't know much about Islam. I really don't care to. Maybe that's the problem, but I don't think so. I don't think there are 1.1 billion terrorist or potential terrorist. Maybe, but I don't think that people are that different.

We have to strike when the opportunity presents itself to protect strategic assets and the homeland at all times.

I think that the strategic asset issue is what is currently the problem. Our most important strategic asset at risk is the oil supply. That is our biggest weakness because as a nation we can't agree on how to solve this issue because of the politics of oil. As far as I know there is one party that is playing politics with this issue as a national issue. But there are politicians on both sides that are preventing a national consensus.

In the short term I absolutely agree with you. However, I believe that even if we suddenly lost our need for Middle Eastern oil and pulled out of all Muslim countries entirely, we would ultimately have to deal with Islamic extremism. Their desire is to convert the world . . . or kill them. We are their target now because we are the clear leaders of the West. If we pulled out, they would attack on the borders as they are doing in Sudan. And they would continue attacking on their borders until the border reaches us.

The influence of Islamic extremism can only be minimized by economic and social development in Muslim countries. Compare Turkey and Taliban Era Afghanistan for evidence of this assertion. People like Osama, Mullah Omar, and Arafat know this. That is why they prevent any sort of improvement for their people. People who are educated and prosperous would not do their bidding. It is therefore ultimately in our national interest for economic and social development to come to the Muslim World, because Islamic Extremism cannot be suffered to be the dominant political force in those nations.

Because if it is, the terrorists will come for us sooner or later . . . with or without oil.

That's something Osama Bin Laden and Louis FarraCon would like all people to believe ie., scare the women back into the kitchen barefooted. And there have been fatherless single mother parented families and "old maids" for centuries, LONG before the womens lib movement for equality.
