And anyhow you wouldn't likely know for sure that someone is committing adultery -- it would just be spreading speculation that could destroy a marriage so you would just tell the curious one it wasn't their business. I would not be able to lie to protect an adulterer either.

That's different than denying you believe in God though. I'm not exactly judging the man --- who knows what any of us would do with a knife to our throats --- but what is the best Christian thing to do? Considering that Jesus accepted a crucifixion for sins that weren't even his, what is the path we should follow?

These are John's words?? Um, how do you figure that? John was not saying that he was the Alpha and Omega in the verse prior to that. Jesus was. These were the words of Christ.

I think so. We've had it very comfortable up till now. It hasn't been difficult to be a Christian, we haven't had the issue of martyrdom up until very recent years. It's like those Christians being thrown in with the lions --- we thought all that was ancient history and that dying for your faith was something of the distant past.

There won't be so many Christians when it becomes difficult.

I apologized in a following post for posting the wrong verse. However, if one denies their faith are they not essentially denying Jesus? Just something that I am wondering. I am not saying anything about this man. I don't know the state of his soul. I am not God. I must admit though, my own interpetation of scripture would lead ME to believe that what he did was wrong. Like I have said, I pray for the courage and grace to stand firm in my own faith if ever tried such as he.

Yes -- many of us are Christians (armchair or otherwise) because for a while it might have been almost cool to be one, put a knife to our throats and you might convert us into just about anything.

Deep down do you think Jesus was honored by this man quickly grabbing the Koran and claiming he was following allah and mohammed instead of the true God?
