A "gun" in the shape of a fish. A plastic fish that squirts water is a problem for a woman who almost offed her boyfriend in a domestic dispute with a real gun with real bullets that can actually injure or kill someone.

Lord, please give me patience.

I'm so sorry that this woman's relatives were shot by real guns with real bullets that really injure people or kill them dead. However, can anyone really injure someone with a water "gun" in the shape of a fish? (Okay, maybe somebody can dislodge a contact lens if they squeezed water in someone's eye, but I doubt it). Can any reasonable person think that someone can injure someone with a squeezed-fish "gun"?

School officials are generally not sensible people so I expect that this woman's complaint has merit with them and there will be no more dangerous fish-squirting "guns" distributed on the last day of school. Lady, you just contributed to the zero-tolerance, zero-brains hysteria that is running public schools today. Thank you very much.

Good for you. I'm tired of all this baloney -- kids getting suspended for bringing a GI Joe to school with a toy gun on it, etc., etc.

I guess you could put Clorox in it and squirt it at someone's eye, but then again, you can also toss a rock at someone's head.

My wife's flaming liberal friend, who I really don't like, got mad because my kids were playing "car crash" with their hot wheels. She was very upset that I didn't correct the "bad" behavior. I went into the kids room, loaded up the cap guns, and let them shoot it up. Her freind really got pissed.

I am so glad I missed the feminization of boys when I grew up. Don't anyone call the DSS on me, but I let my kids play with sparklers on July 4th too.

Poor child. Thank heavens there are people like you who can show kids how to really have a good time!!

We live in the country too and my cousin had a conniption fit when I told her that her daughter was out with my daughters catching bees. These are the kind that don't sting, but she still freaked out that her child TOUCHED a bug. I get her often to let her experience the fun of country life, much to her mom's dismay.

Maybe she's worried that her son is going to follow in her family's stupidity and not understand the directions "Don't point a real gun at real people"

That is what happens when you let cousins breed each other.

"Have watched first graders (during free time) make guns out of legos. Just boys being boys."

The local militia of 9 year-olds on our circle (with my son as the ring-leader) use the spent brass from the range and a roll of duct tape to make their ammo bandoliers. Some of those suckers are 6 feet long. Better than anything you could buy them from a store.

I just tell my kids they aren't supposed to shoot people (theyr are 5 and 2 so they don't understand justifiable homicide definitions) and tell them to only shoot the monsters.

That's the best I could come up with.

I don't want to sound like an overreacting, inbred soccer mom, but I wouldn't let kids play with spent shells because of lead. Kids are especially susceptible, and once it gets in your system, such as in your bones, it takes something like 12 years to get it out.

Animals, birds, trees, plants, fences, steps, open sky, etc.--anything but people. I wouldn't like to be squirted and I assumed other people wouldn't either.

School officials don't like using your tax dollars to pay the cost of lawsuits, and going to court is a real pain too.

You're right about the parent, though. Lawsuits and fear of lawsuits are the reason for a lot of the silliness we teachers get blamed for.

Assistant school superintendent Dr. Louise Standridge says the package that the toy came in says the toy is called a water squirter. It's in the shape of a fish

That's it .. time to ban and get rid of all fish

This mother is an idiot
