AMemorial DayPrayer
By Rev. Dick Kozelka (ret)
First Congregational Church of Minnesota
Minneapolis, MN.

Eternal God,
Creator of years, of centuries,
Lord of whatever is beyond time,
Maker of all species and master of all history --
How shall we speak to you
from our smallness and inconsequence?
Except that you have called us to worship you
in spirit and in truth;
You have dignified us with loves and loyalties;
You have lifted us up with your lovingkindnesses.
Therefore we are bold to come before you without groveling
[though we sometimes feel that low]
and without fear
[though we are often anxious].
We sing with spirit and pray with courage
because you have dignified us;
You have redeemed us from the aimlessness
of things' going meaninglessly well.
God, lift the hearts of those
for whom this holiday is not just diversion,
but painful memory and continued deprivation.
Bless those whose dear ones have died
needlessly, wastefully [as it seems]
in accident or misadventure.
We remember with compassion those who have died
serving their countries
in the futility of combat.
There is none of us but must come to bereavement and separation,
when all the answers we are offered
fail the question death asks of each of us.
We believe that you will provide for us
as others have been provided with the fulfillment of
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

I've bought more than I sell.

And I buy for a friend of mine who only has Net at work but is behind a fire-wall.

He gives me the item number, and a price limit, and I bid for him.

A squirrel leaps between the headstones of U.S. servicemen buried at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington DC, May 30, 2004 on the Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day, May 31, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in the nation's military service, and this year coincides with the dedication of a World War II memorial that has drawn hundreds of thousands of veterans for what is likely the last major gathering of U.S. soldiers from that conflict, before their generation dies out. That's what I figured. I'd start out figuring I was familiarizing myself with what's popular on eBay and would end up losing money on the deal buy becoming a 'collector'.

Still, I sometimes find all sorts of little goodies for Caitlin on there.. she loves anime and all things Japanese and some stuff can be had that you just cannot get in stores....

Streamwood lived up to it's name today!

Rain came down in buckets! (I got hit in the head a few times, but I'm ok!)

Outdoor ceremony was postponed for a while, hoping for a break in the rain. We had a very good turn out, considering the weather.

Ceremonies were moved indoors, to the council chambers; the crowd outside would not all fit. Several people left. I managed to get inside.

Can anyone answer this: where is the word "politicians" in the words "MEMORIAL DAY"?
