General Karpinski of Abu Ghraib photo fame referred bumping into what she thought or claimed was an Israeli interrogator while in Iraq. Others have noted Berg was awfully careless about what items he took to Iraq, right down to a prayer shawl. Reports also say he was carrying antisemitic literature at one point. Berg said he was taunted when he was detained by the coalition for being a jew and an Israeli. Berg's family is a radical one with connections.
I wonder when Karpinski saw the "Israeli" ? was Berg still alive at that time? Could the "interrogator" she claimed she met have been Berg just playing a role to get access , etc?
Nicholas Berg: In the Sacred Place Where He Stands By: Rabbi Dr. Don Well Wednesday, May 10, 2006
excerpt:
Nick made two trips to Iraq. On December 2, 2002, he traveled first to Israel, a brief stopover that was stamped into his passport and may later have cost him dearly. He arrived in Iraq via Jordan and remained until February 1, 2003, busily moving around the country, taking notes, assessing needs, and hatching plans for a variety of projects. He even generated a design to create a company called Babylon Towers with an Iraqi partner. Nick toured most of the Iraqi heartland (including the soon-to-be notorious prison complex of Abu Ghraib).
Interesting?
