In all, the program comprises 33 courses (web site) in sexuality studies. Many are geared specifically to discuss homosexual topics of themes. Others focus on gender issues or womens issues. More than 20 deal with the broader term of sexuality.
Pornography in its various forms is also a topic of interest. For instance, one of the courses offered is communications 549: sexuality and visual culture. In that class, taught by Associate Professor of Communications Richard Cante, students will examine how sexuality has changed through films, video, television, theatre, painting, photography, and other forms of media. Cantes communications 545: pornography, sexuality, and american culture promises to examine the social, cultural, legal, historical, ethical, and aesthetic implications of pornography.
I wonder if there is a single course that explores the physical and emotional risks associated with choosing a perverted lifestyle. I wonder if any courses reveal the dangers children in homosexual households are exposed to.
Such a study would require lots of handson work. I heard that Europe and China need babies. Maybe I can do exchange student work.
Seriously, I've taken such a course before. I wrote very conservative papers, etc. and although my professor was a diesel liberal,at least she respected my opinion. I got an A in the class.
Egad! I'm thinking of moving to Montana and becoming a tax protestor. This is insane!
Would a "minor" in sex studies make you an expert on age of consent laws?
Guns Before Butter.
Well.........knowing Chapel Hill as I do ("We're STILL looking for a few good men!"), let's just say that heterosexuals would qualify as "sexual minorities" there.
Ahem.
Studying perverted sexual habits will really help us stay ahead of global competition.
Suppose the final is practical?
I'd like to ask this "institution of higher learning" how exactly such a course improves someone's ability to have a meaningful and lucrative lifetime career? Or is that silly consideration too old fashioned these days?
A better "cause" would be studies in MORALITY.
I'll bet the study groups were interesting and entertaining.
Isn't this what got Jacko in hot water? Sex with a minor is wrong. Sex with a Major should be reserved for the Major's spouse.
What's a sexual minority?
I'm sure I put in the requisite hours; I ought to get the sheepskin (I didn't get many back then) .
I wonder if anyone over there is considering a minor in fermented beverage assessment?
T-boner.
Class of '83 or '84 or something like that.
Order of Silent Sam.
Think of this on a resume. But no one complained about the home work.
Straight White Males, apparently.
Is there a lab section?
They could plan to use relatively cheap adjuncts for these courses, but I doubt it. One reason for having this minor would be to justify hiring gay activists as professors and assistant deans and the like, and to provide current professors with a chance to have a sweet little upper-level seminar on sex and desxual identity. (Upper level seminar often means less grading burden than large lectures in lower-level classes.)
With benefits, this could easily amount to $350,000.00. And I'll bet the same university tells its professors that it does not have money for lots of more useful things.
I'm glad I haven't had breakfast yet ... ugh!
