Judge Will Hear Terri Schiavo's Family's Motion to Restore Visitation

Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- For a month and a half, the parents of Terri Schiavo have been prevented from visiting their daughter. They hope to change that by filing an emergency petition with Judge George Greer asking him to restore their visitation rights.

Greer, who previously authorized Terri's estranged husband Michael to remove the feeding tube allowing her to live, has agreed to hear the motion.

The hearing is scheduled for May 26 and Greer has allotted 2 hours to consider the motion filed by attorney Pat Anderson on behalf of Bob and Mary Schindler.

Shortly after receiving the motion, Judge Greer, who presides over the guardianship matter involving Terri, refused to hear it on an expedited basis stating he does not consider this an emergency matter.

Following the suspicious discovery of puncture wounds on Terri's arms on March 29, the Schindlers were turned away from visiting Terri by nursing staff who told them they were acting on Michael's orders.

Last week, Deborah Bushnell, one of Michael's lawyers, faxed a letter to Pat Anderson, an attorney for the Schindlers.

Bushnell said the Schindlers could visit their daughter, but only if they would agree to hire an off-duty police officer to accompany them. Should Terri's parents fail to meet the request, they would continue to be denied visitation rights.

"This family is enduring a nightmare, all because of a staged incident," Anderson said. "Terri's mother cannot even see her own daughter, comfort her, touch her or interact with her."

"It's amazing to me that anyone would think Terri Schiavo deserves this form of punishment," Anderson explained. "For her to be confined and isolated in this fashion is something I find cruel and completely contrary to Florida statutes. Death row inmates get better treatment."

Clearwater, Florida attorney Jan Govan has filed to run against Judge Greer in his bid for re-election.

Govan has an uphill battle. He has yet to begin fundraising while Greer already has over $55,000 on hand, according to the Florida state election web site.

Dear God, how long can this go on....?!?!

I listened to a program on Christian Radio on Wednesday discussing the case. I just can't understand how these people can systematically go about trying to "legally" murder an incapacitated woman. So sick and completely evil.

Well, hopefully Terri's parents and siblings can visit her again, soon, with the knowledge that the police investigation found no wrong-doing against Terri by anybody, especially her parents.

I agree with you.

Incredible that Michael prevents Terri's parents from visiting her while he is in a frenzy to have her not just die but die a horrible death by starvation.

So, are you saying that Greer will dehydrate Terri because the powers-that-be in Pinellas Co. are telling him that he must do so for his own livelihood? I guess Greer can just say that he was "following orders" when he kills Terri.

The Schindler's lawyer, Pat Anderson, and others fighting for Terri argued this before Greer in Sept/Oct to no avail. We know it's illegal, but Greer gets away with ruling it that way anyway. Of course he's hiding some skeletons, but we're all well aware of that.

Yes, but he has publicly said, "Nothing by mouth". That's why the police tried to arrest Msgr. Malinowski for giving Terri viaticum. They said if he did, they would arrest him. They said they were acting on orders from Greer.

Greer does not have the legal authority to order that Terri be denied regular food and water.

He did it -- October 15, 2003. He would not allow Terri to be given soup, yogurt, gelation, etc. Then Terri's Law saved her for a few months.

Terri's Law or no Terri's Law, they still can't legally prevent her from having sustenance by mouth.

Lisa Ruby, but they did prevent Terri from receiving any nourishment. Remember, the "husband" would not even let her have a Catholic communion wafer. All this was done with the explicit approval of George W. Greer and the hospice staff. There was no law enforcement of any significance to protect Terri.

That Greer does not have the authority to rule this way isn't surprising to us. We know he is not ruling according to the laws of Florida. The real point may be that with the exception of some of us here fighting for Terri's right to live, very evil people are doing everything they can, legally or not, to cause her death. There were no appeals left. Everybody was acting as though Greer had the law on his side, when he clearly doesn't. We are actively trying to prevent Terri from dying because of the corruption that is so evident in Pinellas county. While the mainstream press would like nothing more than to mislead Americans, most Freepers who are close to this case are definitely informed as to what's going on.
