This is a freepmail I sent earlier today. Is the Belmont Club no longer welcome on the main forum?

Hi there,

I just noticed you had pulled the latest Belmont Club thread due to posting restrictions.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1134819/posts

Was this done because it came from blogspot? or because Wretchard objected?

I thought it would be OK to post the Belmont Club in the news forum, because Lead Moderator specifically mentioned Wretchard's Belmont Club as one example that should be posted in news:

The New Free Republic Bloggers and Personal Web Sites Forum

"Blog posts are very similar to vanities, but had not been treated as such since they were 'published' elsewhere. The new forum will allow us to treat them more like vanities. The substantive posts in this category will still be welcome in the main forum. It would be a mistake, for example, to move Wretchard's incredible analysis of the Iraq fighting out of the main forum. "

It would be great if you could clear this up for me as I maintain a pinglist to the Belmont Club and it is very popular on freerepublic. Should it not be posted in the future? Was a mistake made by Admin Moderator?

Other than that, I just want to thank you guys for doing an incredible job with this website.

Sincerely,

Eurotwit "

More good analysis (well-informed and reasoned speculation!) from Wretchard. Thanks for the ping, Eurotwit.

The article you posted, you put in the source field "http://www.freepublic.com", not the address to Wretchard's blog. I assume you meant to put freerepublic.com, but you left out the "re". To make matters worse, if one did go to freepublic.com, one would get bombarded with popups.

So we pulled that thread with a pull message saying the link was bad.

Thanks, LM

Thanks for the reply LM.

I should have known the mistake was mine.

It usually is :-)

Keep up the great work.

Sincerely,

Eurotwit.

Whether the Syrian sanctions and operations against Fallujah and Najaf are battle-shaping activities for the next phase of the Global War on Terror.........We can only hope it is the next phase....the phase that finally wages total and horrible WAR on the people that have vowed to kill us all no matter where they are.

I am totally weary of this p.c. phase where we apparently don't want hurt anybody, or even hurt their feelings for crying out loud! We are apologizing to the murderous thugs in U.S. coustody for being mean to them...and now, letting them go so they can continue to murder by be- heading.........and now Drudge reports that we are "negotating" with "tribal leaders" for payment for damage done in the war! Sigh....

I do, however, believe the President when he said that there would be things going on in the background that we would not know about for a long time...or that we may never know about. I hope the "background" war is the proper war that I long to see out in the open.

Add me to the Ping List. I study this more carefully than most things posted.

Use this url for the source field. Takes you to keyword Belmont Club. Should solve the problem.

I posted a few Belmont Clubs. Just add an extra g to the blogspot URL and it will sail through. Wretchard is a great writer, is one of our own, thus gets special (Papal) dispensation from the mods.

Thanks. I guess I got sloppy typing in the freerepublic link since it did not really intend to link there anyways. It was just a workaround to post from blogspot.

I think Cannoneer No. 4's solution seems good.

BTW, that freepublic site was nasty. No wonder the mods didn't like it :-)

Cheers.

We will be going to war with Syria and probably Iran. The Iranian people may rise up and spare us the trouble. The upcoming Israeli air strike on the Iranian nuclear weapons will complicate matters.

OIF2 left a lot of heavy metal back at home station because somebody decided we needed Constabulary troopers in armored cars instead of remnants of Industrial Age warfare like armored divisions. Actually, we need both, and OIF1 was both, but OIF1's shortage of MP vehicles became a political issue.

I hope OIF2's shortage of Abrams and Bradleys and Palladins does not become similarly politicized in the months to come.
