I was agreeing with you about Turks. The Radical Muslim faith seems to spend in inordinate amount of time dealing with the sexuality of women. It's creepy.

Radical Muslims don't understand that torture is wrong, that killing innocents is wrong, or that using women and children for cover is wrong. I doubt they think lying or stealing is wrong. But what they do think is wrong is for a woman to be sexual. That they understand. It's creepy beyond words.

Radical Islam comes across as a ghetto gang banger cult. All the macho bullsh-t, posturing, puffed up control freaks crap that can be thrown together under one cult concept. They need to find a better way... maybe a Reformation? Bring that old time religion into the modern world?

Every Turk I have ever met was decent, hardworking and law abiding. This piece of filth was acting as an Islamic, not a Turk.

The prevelance of this practice across the Middle East (and India) is a telling commentary on the lack of a common view of humanity and morality between us and them.

Have you ever heard of a single western man anywhere who would kill his daughter because she was raped, or because she engaged in premarital sex? You are especially a good person to ask this since you deal with the lunatic fringe of society.

We view pederasts as violent sociopaths in this country. In the Middle East, "honor killing" is viewed as a expectation of the course of events by a large swath of the population.

Nevertheless, to ensure you cease to hold your mistaken view about me, I know that many Turks (and Arabs) are civilized people who look upon this with horror. This is mostly a product of their adopting a western worldview, and is frequently also, I suspect, a product of latent Christianity among Turkified Greeks/Armenians and formerly Christian Arab families. I do suspect there is a genetic predisposition to barbarism among some groups, which has lead to the english phrase "an especialy cruel race" being applied to different groups of people at different times. This can easily be shown among our own people by families made up of generations of violent criminals and sociopaths.

I don't know if this is the full answer to your question, but my thought on this is that contrary to the Jews, who were scattered accross the old world where they lived and evolved among cultures where extra-marital sex is not as shunned, these people (rural Kurds) are just beginning to come out of the circles where they have lived and practiced their customs for thousands of generations.

Do you think that Mary Magdalene's attempted stoning was the last time Jews practiced this sort of punishment?

What are the set of punishments prescribed for the various offences by Moses? Is stoning one of them?

The Martyr Kubilay is a good example to give you. This was a Liutenant of the new Turkish Republic who had been stoned to death by an agitated mob in a western town in Turkey in the 1920s. The reason? Seperation of church and state. Folks of mid and western Turkey would not dream of doing this today.

Anyway, we all have our problems. We'll work on the remains of the "honor killing" culture, and you'll work on eradicating the wide-spread and deep rooted child rape in your clergy..
