Yes, I think they will get another dog. It was evident Spot adored her master and just wanted to be near him. All our dogs have been like that with my husband. I feed and tend to them and they worship him. Go figure ;-)

Barney is cute and funny but not the same as Spot. He's very independent. One of my favorite pictures is one of Spot curled up in the Oval Office close to the President.

Tired and a little down. I haven't accomplished my "to do" list for any day this week so far. Three days left to this week, and I'd better get crackin'.

Speaking of which, I'm off to bed.

G'night.

Do you have the picture? Can you post it? I'd love to see it.

Your friend's b-day? EASY! A margarita or champaign (SP?)glass with her name etched on it. Or a keychain. I think you can even take stuff in and they'll engrave it for you. Believe me, you'll find something at Things REmembered.

My "to-do's" aren't getting done this week either. But we have two days left!

Sweet dreams!

That would be champagne :) And that's a good idea. However, if I don't go to bed right now I'm gonna fall on my face. Nighty night.

The one in the Oval office. Spotty is under the table behind the President. I love these pictures.

I am soooo happy for your new ears arriving. What a blessing, what a delight!

I was out doing some fun errands on a sunny day after I posted the Double Dose. I've had a bad migraine for two days but it began to let up this afternoon. With two dinners planned for the weekend, I hope it leaves town. My birthday is Tuesday, May 4, and friends are lightly feting me on Saturday and I'm hosting my son and his roommate and a friend on Sunday when I'll be cooking my own birthday dinner, an awesome concoction called Potted Beef. It has a wonderful red wine sauce and is served over rice or noodles with peas around the edge of the platter. ;-)

I remember my Brownie and GS leaders to this day with great admiration. I thought they walked on water at the time! :-)

That is so true in my life too. I still think of them from time to time all these decades later. Some of them were better leaders than others but they all seemed god-like to me at the time. And it made such an impression on me that these leaders were mothers of my peers, not strangers imported or hired to do a job. I remember feeling what a vast difference they had in our grade school world compared with our teachers. We listened to them in a much deeper way, possibly in part because they were so involved in teaching us hands-on projects.

Some of my best childhood memories were centered in Girl Scout activities (excepting dragging all those cookies from block to block!).

I had to give a presentation in Judaism today. It was scary. Scary meaning I HATE standing in front of the class and talking

Would you like to know how to get rid of that scary feeling? I recommend taking a public speaking class, in or out of college. It forces you to find a subject, prepare a text, practice practice practice, and find out how to do better and most of all, to work down your fears to nothing. It is applying the same principle of how an emergency medical technician can respond so calmly and rightly at the scene of a gory, bloody, mangled-body accident while others are freaking out and sick. It's the training and the application of it. You can overcome this and turn it into an ally. You "speak" wonderfully well on the computer and I know you can transfer that to public speaking with practice.

I see no need for anything but joy over your posts on the hearing aids.

The Potted Beef traditionally is cooked with a Cab Sauv to give the dish a hearty but not sweet flavor. It calls for the carrots to be scraped into peelings rather than sliced to give a more subtle flavor. It's kind of a melt in your mouth recipe. When I asked my son's room mate, Chris, if he liked roast beef, he said, "Yes! But I can't remember the last time I had it." (His folks are in Texas.) I'm going to buy a pie for dessert, of which I will have an Atkins sliver. If you're interested in the beef recipe, let me know. I got it from a local cooking show that promos the wines used in the recipes. It's excellent.

I do wish you could join us! It'd be so fun. Either Merlot or Cab Sauv would be fine wines to drink with this dish. I like Merlots much better than Cabs for in-the-glass enjoyment.

To absent friends ...
