That is because, as an earlier poster stated, this was not written by Bum Phillips, but rather Bob Wheeler.

I love this letter, it has actually been around for a while... the author, however is not Bum Phillips..... it was written by Longhorn Bob, founder of www.hornfans.com. ( Bob Wheeler )

Hiya Neighbor and neighbors! I remembered on the day finally, usually it’s a day or two later.
I spoke to my dad early in the evening. He is kind of a know it all regarding history.
He says, “well it’s you sister’s birthday.” I told him it’s also Texas Independence Day! “I didn’t know that”, was his reply. Heh heh heh. Got him finally.
