Just remember who was in the White House at the time.
LoL. Don't you mean it's GTMA before coffee? I think someone needs to regulate your IV Cafeine drip better. Sometimes the blood level in my cafeine stream gets a bit high, but I can always fix that!

Thanks, I'd have to concur!
True, but I don't really think the administration would have mattered at the time. I think people would be a bit more hesitant to applaud such a thing today, but I'll guarantee, a lot more would think it.
The radioactive destruction of DC has been a daydream of mine for some time. I don't particularly care if congress is in session at the time, though the SOTU address would be the most opportune moment if one really wanted it to be effective. Consider: the entire house, senate, prez, VP, cabinet, supreme court, and most of the lobbyists(sp?). PooF.
Rather than rebuild DC (it would be radioactive now), they could "meet" electronically. We have the technology right now where they could "meet" in cyberspace. We have cryptographic protocols that can handle secure voting. No more "voice votes"! Think about it. All votes would be instantly available to everyone simultaneously, as would the text of all bills, (cryptographically signed as well to avoid tampering). There would be no floor version of the bill dumped on the floor of the house and/or senate that is the only copy, that noone has read.
If this was done, there would also not be a single point to attack. The congresscritters would reside in their districts, and thus actually be available to their constituents. The job of the various special interests would be much more difficult, because they'd need to have a presence everywhere throughout the country. Obviously true grass-roots efforts would be at an advantage, unlike the current state of affairs. The 'white house' could be considered to be wherever the president is, regardless of what color the house actually is. (since when is government concerned with accuracy anyway?).
Another benefit would be that congresscritters would actually be subject to the laws they make, rather than living in an insulated bubble in the District of Criminals.
All in all, it would be a win-win senerio for everyone but the criminal (political) class. Leave DC to the cockroaches. That's all that seems to really flourish there anyway.
