I think I just became a METS fan as well as Diamondbacks fan.

U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Jose M. Nunez Former Met Takes Swing at Operation Enduring FreedomI don't like the cutesy title of this article. My initial impression, from the "takes swing" reference, was that this was another attempt by a liberal journalist to showcase a soldier critical of the War on Terror.

Ahemm... this story was written by a MARINE! You can't fault the guy for trying to come up with a catchy title, c'mon now!

Hey, give Lance Cpl. John E. Lawson Jr. a break. He's just trying to get noticed by the lame brain media so that when his enlistment is up he can at least get an interview for a "Reporter's Job."

Just watched the Mets final out in a 2-1 loss to the Expos. But seeing your post softens the loss.

Alright Packer Fans, help me out here. Didn't the Packers have a player who left the NFL to enlist? I don't remember his name, but I recall he led the team onto the field for the first game after 911. He sprinted out carrying a huge US flag.
Anyone?

You've got it a little backwards, Travis Williams was a wide receiver who graduated from the Naval Academy and played a little for the Packers after his military commitment was up.
The Cardinals Pat Tillman left the NFL to enlist in the Army.

Didn't the Packers have a player who left the NFL to enlist? The Cardinals did went Airborne Ranger and is/was assigned with the 175th Rangers. Think he's about due to either ETS or Re-Up.
