Wrong thread for what you're doing. Please desist.
To: BooBoo1000
That fact alone should entitle them to respect.
Sure, but glorifying the Confederacy and gorging on Ho-hos is a little more that simple respect. I wonder what the Hunley crew would say if they could see all this? I think they would be embarassed.

Take a vacation from this thread.
To: stainlessbanner
I think the moderater is about to "vacation" me anyway. But the boys here at the office are sure enjoying those pictures. So, this will be my final post. Sorry we had to end it this way.
I hope you still love me, and we can still be friends, and you'll still come to my fabulous Tigger birthday party.
No, wait, the party is for my little girl.
To: BooBoo1000
Absolutely. People such as moyden (walt), however, are too blinded by their hatred to see things like this.

Now see, I was going to stop posting, but you are tempting me to be very naughty. Instead, I will simply shower you with compliments.
You're a handsome man, Stakka, and well liked by all who know you.

Study some history, then you won't sound like such a fool when you claim the civil war wasn't about slavery. It was entirely about slavery. It's just that most folks couldn't sleep at night knowing they were fighting for the right for white men to keep black men like cattle, so they rationalized all sorts of other arguments for it.

Rest in peace gentlemen and thank you for your brave service to a grateful nation

If you want to take such a complex subject as the WBTS, and just sum it up that "it was all about slavery," then be my guest. I won't stop you.
I will warn you though... It makes you appear to be shallow in your critical thinking skills, and sloppy in your perception of history.

Flattery will get you nowhere.
To: frgoff
Maybe not entirely about slavery for everyone involved. But, as you say, keeping human beings as cattle trumps any other rationalization.
To: carton253
I understand it is fashionable today to make simple things complex so that you can come across as intelligent and profound. But just because you want simple things to be complex, doesn't make them so.
Read some statements by southern legislatures regarding their arguments for "states rights." It was always about slavery.
Research how and why the Republican party even came into existence.
Research Lincoln's platform when he campaigned for the Senate.
Research the Radical Republicans and why they impeached Johnson.
Research the behavior of Southerners AFTER the civil war and find out why the Radical Republicans did what they did.
Quit defending a society and government that practiced tyranny against what they considered a subhuman race. You sound like a holocaust denier.

Any chance ya'll can take this back to DU? The thread is about honoring 8 men who gave the ultimate sacrifice, anything else if off topic.
To: Stakka Skynet
Flattery will get you nowhere.
Hmmmm... Are you sure? It got me a wife, and a raise or two, and lots of sex, and some kids. I think I would have to disagree with you on that one.
Your a charismatic man, Stakka. And you smell terrific!
To: frgoff
W consider people like you members of a subhuman race. We are on this thread honouring our noble ancestors, not refighting the war. You are merely another troll looking for a fight.
Please take it elsewhere.

Rebelyell, the beauty of your inner spirit is matched only by your incredible fashion sense.
To: moyden2000
Sir, are you hitting on me? I'm afraid that you won't get any sex from me. Perhaps some lucky guy on DU can help you with that.
