Miss Marple, coming from as accomplished a detective as you (referring both to your fictional counterpart and to your real-life detective work on FR), that is a very nice compliment--thank you! :)

Yes, very interesting. Isn't it interesting how history just keeps repeating itself. But this time, I hope and pray the answer to these appeasers and traitors is NO.

Thank you :) I'm also looking more into Gelb and Ellsberg's network, as it appears a number of figures associated with them during the Watergate era recur in today's controversy. Seymour Hersh is another. I am currently reading, but have not yet finished, a source which may have some additional information, for anyone who wants to follow up on this:

Tom Wells, Wild Man : The Life and Times of Daniel Ellsberg

As I'm typing this, I'm wondering if there is any connection between Clarke and Anthony Lake, another associate of Gelb's, who was also a Watergate figure and whom Clinton wanted to appoint CIA Director:

Security Risk for CIA: Plumbing the depths of Anthony Lake's dubious past

Commissioned by Defense Secretary Robert McNamara (CFR) in 1967 to assemble official records on U.S. involvement in Vietnam, the Pentagon Papers study team had access to many top-secret documents. Lake, together with Morton Halperin and Leslie Gelb, was one of the Vietnam Task Force leaders on the project, which was under the supervision of Paul Warnke, an Assistant Secretary of Defense. All members of that quartet were, or would become, (and remain today) members of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), otherwise known as the "Park Avenue State Department." Gelb and Lake signed off on the release of the Pentagon Papers to Daniel Ellsberg (CFR), who, in turn, leaked them to comrades at the subversive Institute for Policy Studies and, eventually, to the New York Times and the Washington Post. All of these players -- Lake, Halperin, Gelb, Warnke, and Ellsberg -- soon became activists in the IPS network.

The Fifth Column is both in the mosque on Third Avenue, and in the prestige flats on Fifth Avenue.

My Anthony Lake hunch was right:

Anti-Terror Pioneer Turns In the Badge

Under Clinton, Clarke had carte blanche from national security advisers Anthony Lake and Samuel R. "Sandy" Berger to blow past bureaucratic turf lines and assume operating and budgetary powers that were nowhere specified by statute or executive order. Berger said he regularly turned down demands that he fire Clarke.

The Institute for Policy Studies as an organization dedicated to the destruction of the rule of law and democratic-republicanism within the United States, and also, around the world.

It is and its partners, the World Federalist Association, and the Council on Foreign Relations, are bent on "empowering" the United Nations and a one-world government by judiciary.

These organizations are the world leaders of the pampered - and - unwittingly - never - had - a -real -job class, that imagines how life will be with the big picture as seen from the view with them at the top.

Go ahead, dub them, The Tri-Lateral Commission; because for all their intents and purposes, they are.

Inside the United States, their domestic intelligence service - "state security" - is run by the organization, People For the American Way.

All that said, it does not discount the incredible anti-Americanism that both pervades and is the doctrine of, all the other fascist, leftwing organizations trying to rule every aspect of human behavior under their sun god, a.k.a. world socialism.

I would not want to leave out, any of the little dictators among the socialists, un-accounted for, in their self-gratuitous trajectories into extra-Constitutional space.

Their gimmick is, to convince enough people to go for that ride: Lost in extra-Constitutional Space.

No thanks.

I like liberty and much prefer limited government, restricted to the powers enumerated --- if a body would be care-full and thought-full to notice.

Never occurred to me, until now, that actually, it is Mr. Clarke who is most, singularly responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks' penetration.

He did not write the book to defeat Bush.

He wrote the book to cover his ass.

He knows that to refute many of his implications-by-omission, that the President cannot reveal various secrets, especially operational secrets.

ANTHONY LAKE: JOINT INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE TESTIMONY: Washington, D.C. September 19, 2002

The mastermind of the Manila plot, he had also been the object of a massive search for his involvement in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. (If I may add a personal recollection: I vividly remember my joy as I looked at Ramsi's picture on one of the matchbook covers offering a reward for his capture when our NSC counterterrorism coordinator, Richard Clarke, informed me of his capture in a late night phone call to my home.)

Very good. Wasn't it recently revealed that Strom Thurmond was on the VVAW assassination list?

I think you may be onto something there. That might explain why he has such a vested interest in it. That might also imply he's been assigned to cover up for others who were complicit. . .

Sharp observation, and correct:

How Kerry Quit Veterans Group Amid Dark Plot

Mr. Camil's Phoenix Project planned to execute the Southern senatorial leadership that was financing the Vietnam War. Senators like John Stennis, Strom Thurmond, and John Tower were his targets, according to Mr. Camil.
