sorry about the delayed response. ;-)

What is the speculation in the area about how much longer the trial goes on before it is given to the Jury for consideration? I was also surprised at how fast they were able to select a jury.... less than two days.

The judge in the case is very, very good and very strict. She's not letting anyone play games and didn't in jury selection either. She also sequestered the jury immediately upon swearing them in, which is unusual for cases in this area.

It'll go to sometime next week, but it's hard to say exactly when, IMO. The defense attorney is the absolute best in this area and has a reputation for being extremely thorough. However, I cannot imagine what he could do that would drag this on for much. But, he's also very unpredictable.

The DA is new, and this is his first big case, so that may impact the length as well. He's going to want to make sure that he has his ducks in a row before turning it over to the defense.

Short answer, early next week. Maybe.

No apologies necessary. It happens all the time. :-)

I am sure you cut a mean rug!!

Actually, I'm not that good. The only practice I get these days is when I go with my wife to chaperone a high school dance, and we are fairly restrained when we do.

Doctors would recommend what type of treatment, if any, they thought she needed.

I have a few recommendations!! Pick me! Pick me!

She thinks God told her to murder her children, eh?
Well, I personally hope she gets to ask God about it in person very soon.

Thanks..... I read somewhere a while ago, maybe the Beaumont Enterprise or the Houston Chronicle, that the prosecution rested yesterday and the defense was to begin presenting it's case this morning... So possibly by weekend or early next week is a good prediction... by the time they get through the defense presentations, rebuttals, summations and the presenting of the Jury charge.

The prosecution rested its case Wednesday and the defense is expected to complete its case Thursday.

Actually, that's from the article in the Tyler paper that you posted above. I missed it the first time I read it. If the defense finishes it's case today, they'll give it to the Jury tomorrow, and probably have a verdict before the weekend.

I have been following the trial again today...What I have noticed is that all the psychiatrists are agreeing that she is insane...Did you see the tape of her confession and the story of watering and tripping over the rock...sheesh...This is leading me to believe that she thought this all up on her on...Texas2, please help me to understand if I am seeing this wrongly...

Also...I read the earlier posts from this morning...Feel proud of the way you handled yourself...A southern gent who kept his cool and at the same time squashed that little critter and walked on about his way...lol

Both the state and the defense stated before the trial began that their experts would both testify that this woman was medically insane, or mentally deficient. There really hasn't been any disagreement with the medically insane situation.

However, in Texas, to be considered legally insane the defense has to prove that the defendent did not know right from wrong. In a case like this, where the defendent pleads not guilty by reason of insanity, some of the burden shifts from the state to the defense. The state still has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she committed the crime, but the defense has to prove the legal insanity portion, if I understand correctly.

I don't think the jury will buy it. This woman knew what she was doing was wrong: 1) she did it secretly after her husband went to bed, 2) she called 911 after she had done the deed, 3) she told the 911 dispatcher that she thought "she did wrong by Aaron", etc. I think the jury will send her away.

Do the words "Rusty Yates" come to mind?

If this goes down like Andrea Yates, the feminists will claim that the husband and The Male Patriarchy made her do it. For that matter, she's already claiming that God told her to do it.

I cannot believe God would tell us to kill our children...

God will NOT tell anyone to kill their children. Period.
