I have to agree with you...she at times looked startled at the questions....she is too much a lady and maybe a little niave of the rats and their intention to destroy her and Bush......Condi, AQ is not your only enemy..!

I tend to agree with you about the audience of 60 minutes. I do not think that it has the same clout it once had. The liberals and the part of the swing voters they can sway with this sort of yellow journalism are going to be gotten by them anyway. I do not really know but I really wonder if it has the power it once had.

They don't have an uncut interview tape which they could excerpt and use if they didn't negotiate to have such rights as part of the agreement to do the interview.

i don't think its going to "bring us down" per say. but even if the specfic viewer demographic is liberal, like the New York Times, 60 Minutes stories feed into the rest of the media establishment. I fully expect Katie Couric to be trash talking Rice tomorrow morning.

"Give me a break! She absolutely should testify before the commitee. One, there's nothing lost if she does. And secondly, that would prevent the media and the dems from using her lack of open testimony as proof that there must be some substance in Clarke's lies!"

I take it you don't play either card or chess very much.
When the other guy is leading with a feint, you don't want to follow because he has something else in store. Sometimes called an ambush.

Ms Rice has already testified in private, to change that now would be to hand the bad guys an ace, or in this instance, leave the Queen at risk.

PS....NOTHING is going to "prevent the media and the dems from using her lack of open testimony as proof..." of any damn thing they agree to!

I'm with you. CBS can go to perdition. The way the segment ended was rude and dismissive. I hope it's because Condi ticked them off with her answers-- which I thought were good, particularly given that CBS edited the interview.

Did you see Condi on "60 Minutes" tonight? I thought it was abysmal, mostly due to 60 Minutes' hacking up of her interview. Clarke gets TWO 60 Minutes segments with softball questions - Condi only gets ONE segment, with a bunch of tough questions thrown at her... surprise, surprise!

Between this and today's Sunday morning shows... what a depressing day. The sheeple are going to eat it all up... :-(

its not "us" here on FR we need to worry about. its alot of other americans who either see it directly, or who will now consume this story as it filters down the chain of command in the media matrix.

read Bernard Goldberg's book, he describes perfectly how the "news" is created in this country.

"Trust me"

HAHAHAHA! You sure like to carry the media's water. And the media likes to delude itself, a lot. Like they still believe they have relevancy. Truth is, the world is changing faster than the main stream media can even see. But they all like to sneeze at the fact that they are losing ratings, subscriptions and $$$ to fund their "news organizations". You do a good job spinning for them, I'll give you that.

in fact, that's how the white house gets into these problems to begin with, they delude themselves into thinking the media is going to be fair to them.

The White House knows the score. This was a hatchet job, for sure, and I don't always understand why they don't highlight whatever I want them to, but PD is right -- GWB has a string of wins behind him and he's no dummy. Rove and Hughes, and his entire cabinet for that matter, are all brilliant. In November, despite the incredible assistance the DNC gets from the mainstream media, they'll be crying in their beers just as they did in November of 2002, wondering what the heck just hit them. There'll be a temporary moratorium on the ban of DU posts and we'll be posting a lot of "Little Tommy is deeply saddened" jokes.

It doesn't make everything all right to pretend everything's all right. But if I were on the left coast I think I'd just have to give this a miss.

Poor Dog. Hope you eat only a light supper, and have some ice around to put on it....

We ain't kiddin' you when we say this did not go well.

Oh no! I'm trembling.

Katie Couric has NEVER trashed a Republican before!!

How will we ever win another election?

I give up.

" Bradley saying we've had more AQ attacks in the world since 9/11 than before so how can she say we've got them on the run. "

In WWII:

The bloodiest month for US forces in Europe was 3 months before Hitler died in his bunker....

---the bloodiest month for US forces in the Pacific was June of 1945, six weeks before Japan capitulated.

But I forgive Bradley for not knowing that .....after all, he works for SeeBS, which has no research staff, and relies on DNC interns to get that sort of thing done. informed.

in many cases, they are "losing ratings" to other sources of information (cable, AOL, etc) that their bias also filters into.

I ould suggest again, read Bernard Goldberg's book, he describes perfectly how it all works, how the "news" gets created, the New York Times is the nexus.

Oh for corn's sake. Now Leslie Stahl ends the program by saying that she didn't report that Clark's book was published by a company owned by CBS, 1) Because the interview was conducted months before he had a publisher, and 2) because it was an oversight.

Now Ed Bradley didn't state it either in his segment tonight, when it was described by him as a "best-seller".
