You know, looking back, I had a not-very-feminine teacher in grade school during the 1970s. It was pretty well known that she "shared a house" with another female teacher. As I look back now, their relationship is obvious to me. This woman, however, was a wonderful-- and very strict-- teacher. She did not make an issue of it, and students at that time simply did not inquire into their teachers' personal lives. My parents certainly never mentioned it to me, though they are very conservative themselves. They respected her privacy and felt it simply wasn't any of my business. I think some topics should just be "off limits" between teachers and students. I can tell you I knew virtually nothing about the spouse or partner of any teacher. I can't help but wonder, though, if someone had asked a heterosexual Christian teacher about a recent marriage, and that teacher said yes, it was beautiful, a marriage in a church, before God and in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, etc.... how would the school board have reacted? Somehow I doubt that this "sharing" would have been viewed quite so favorably.

I am impressed. It is nice to see someone educate the child at their comprehension level, not the level of the slowest kid in class. And the charges of the NEA that of "you are brainwashing your kids" are really ironic in light of their behavior (this article is a perfect example of unintentional irony at work). :-)

what was he supposed to say when the kids asked him? Kids are persistant and they can be cruel. He told them the truth. I think that's what he should have done.

At least I am living in a world of my own making where no one tells my kids that homosexual sex is just the same as hetero.
