UN administrators flee "Kristallnacht" | 23:46 |
B92 PRISTINA -- Wednesday
UN administrators have abandoned offices in the Kosovo towns of Gnjilane, Prizren and Pec, fleeing what one UNMIK official described to B92 as "Kristallnacht".
"Kristallnacht is under way in Kosovo," the official told B92 on condition of anonymity.
"What is happening in Kosovo must unfortunately be described as a pogrom against Serbs: churches are on fire and people are being attacked for no other reason than their ethnic background," he added.
Serbs and UN officers have been the target of attacks by Kosovo Albanians during most of the day and night. The most dramatic withdrawal was from Belo Polje on the outskirts of Pec, where UNMIK officials, retreating with Serb residents, where forced to shoot Albanian assailants in self-defence.
The Serbian Orthodox seminary in Pec has been razed, and Albanians celebrated its destruction by setting fire to the local church., said the UN official.

Latest Info I have is that the US embassy in Belgrade is defended by 200 policemen as the Serb protestors are marching on it.
The Mosque in Belgrade has been burned and so has the one in Nish.

PRISTINA, Serbia and Montenegro - UNMIK spokesman Derek Chappell said tonight that the survivor of yesterday's Ibar River drowning has told his parents that he and three friends entered the river alone and were immediately caught up in the heavy current. The boy managed to reach the opposite bank of the river, but his three companions were swept away. The incident happened at about 4.30 p.m. and police began a search of the river about an hour and a half later. Two bodies have been found so far. Today's violent incidents around Kosovo were sparked after claims that the boys had been chased into the river by Serbs with a dog. Chappell told media in Pristina tonight that this was definitely not true according to the account of the surviving boy.

This is interesting:
DEREK CHAPPELL: It's hard to avoid the conclusion that all of this violence is directed at the Serbian minority members of the Kosovo community. It is directed totally at them, at their enclaves, at their homes. Even some of the projects we have recently started to bring Serbs back from Serbia have been attacked, the new houses that have been built have been burnt down and the returned Serbs have been driven off. So I think, yes, this is a return to the ethnic hatred that we have seen years ago.

Sorry, Makedonski I just heard it from a guy from Skopje, who's writing in a german politics forum...

Sure, all of the US media is taking a "made up" story from the Albania media and passing it on as fact. The US media: Are you a true believer or simply naive? I applaud the shadow of the US media, the very small number of journalist and outlets that tell "the story" without having to favor or protect the faded image of the US. One only needs to assess the many, many lies of US in Iraq to recognize the palsied weakness of the US press, that will not work to expose the lies, instead waits for the passing time to once again beguile the "stupid ones," the many-numbered masses whose number is always multiplied by zero. The US press: You give them too much credit. They bark when told. Say Milosevic! How they bark! Say Sharon! And the US media speak in hushed voices for the "man of peace." After the Great Air War over Kosovo (not to say Serbia and other parts of Yugoslavia), the mainstream US media went silent about the many hundreds of murders, the terror, the bombing of churches --and Serb buses!--all part of the "readjustment of life in Kosovo" when all the bad people--the Serbs--had been run out or killed like dogs, or made to huddle in enclaves from the "peaceloving and innocent Kosovars." This is the story the US media portrayed. Expect nothing from the mainstream US media. There are a few voices, but the corporate babble has its will, sickening the minds of the stupid many--for whom they have only contempt.

from Yahoo earlier:
"Police in the Macedonian capital Skopje told AFP that Macedonia closed its checkpoints on the border with Kosovo to all vehicles.
The border posts at Jazince and Blace are only open for pedestrians from Kosovo and to Macedonian citizens coming back from Kosovo.
The Macedonian army stepped up controls near the two border posts, army spokesman Major Zoran Sekulovski said."

Dear God, hope Pres Bush doesn't rely on the State Dept for credible information:
Thaci meets with high officials of the State Department(Zeri) posted to UNMIK site 3-16-04
"The leader of the PDK Hashim Thaci, who is in the United States, visited the State Department. On Monday Mr. Thaci met with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Europe and Euro-Asia, Kathleen Stephens.
Mr. Thaci expressed gratitude for the role played by the United States in preparing the Standards for Kosovo and for the contribution of the American troops in Kosovo and the region.
Ms. Stephens expressed satisfaction with Mr. Thaci's commitment to the fulfillment of the Standards for Kosovo. Ms. Stephens appreciated Mr. Thaci's effort for creating necessary conditions for the well being of the citizens in areas such as the rule of law, the fight against crime and corruption, the dialogue, the returns, freedom of movement, economic development and privatization.
Mr. Thaci also met with another senior official of the State Department Jim Sweigert.
Last night Mr. Thaci met with the former secretary of state Madeline Albright."

If those events are true, it points to a mob jumping to conclusions, looking for an excuse to go on a rampage (as if they needed one).

Do I have to remind you of your HAHAHA remark when you accused Serbs of playing victims when in fact they are perpetrators of the crime? Who jumped on conclusion then?
It seems to me You only look for excuse to go on verbal rampage against the Serbs, (as if you needed one).
Your heart is with the terrorists. And when the heart is captured, mind follows. Somehow I feel sorry for you.

scotsman.com:
Kosovo clashes were planned, says UN official (one-way violence by Albanians against the Serbs) But in a sign that the outbreak of violence could have been planned, Serb enclaves in the towns of Caglavica and Gracanica, as well as villages elsewhere, were also attacked. A senior international United Nations police official said: "The situation is not under control. This is planned, co-ordinated, one-way violence from the Albanians against the Serbs. It is spreading and has been brewing for the past week.
UN police confirmed they had found two bodies in the river and were looking for a third boy. A spokesman said it was unclear how they had died and expressed shock that the media had rushed to judgment.

Hashim Thaqi was in Washington DC the day before.
Kathleen Stephens, Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, "appreciated Mr. Thaci's effort for creating necessary conditions for the well being of the citizens in areas such as the rule of law, the fight against crime and corruption, the dialogue, the returns, freedom of movement, economic development and privatization."
Seriously.
Hopefuly, WH and Pentagon will listen what Camp Bondsteel has to say, not what this Clinton mole says.
